My Take On It All

I'm trying not to jump on the misery wagon, but I was really optimistic about the season a few weeks ago and that's gone already.

Just don't think it's going to be an enjoyable one, too much going on behind the scenes, does anyone actually think we can challenge city or liverpool for the league?

We had our chance with the CL.

Poch doesn't want to win domestic cups...

Sort of feel this season is over before it's begun. Hope I'm wrong and the team turn it around, or at least start to look like they want to

Still trying to keep optimistic about it all as it's very early in the season and a couple of wins will pick it all up.

It would be interesting to see if Poch's misery is just in press conferences or whether it extends to behind the scenes, I'll admit the squad do seem a little flat mentally.

My opinion is he has picked the wrong moment to play the tough guy. Klopp has been ruthless with a couple of players like Sakho and Shaw, but the most similar example to Eriksen is Coutinho. Klopp still played Coutinho and even made him captain at times despite him wanting to leave. Fact is players will want to leave, as long as their head is still in the game they can still play though.

Poch is way too proud for that. He would (foolishly) keep his pride intact rather than do the sensible thing dnd play his best team.

Winks and Sissoko as a CM pairing at home to Newcastle was a joke.

both winks and sissoko overachieved last season. the fact at one point we were in touching distance of the top two with those two in midfield was astounding.

im excited to see Lo Celso, Dele and Ndombele in midfield.

Lucas and Son need to get out of Kane's way, far too narrow.

Agree.

I think Kane got facked off at one point and decided to play in midfield.

I agree with almost everything you've said here.

Whats most worrying is that Poch is and has been since the back end of last season, been upsetting things with his sometimes cryptic, sometimes very direct comments.

This is a manger who has built a strong Spurs squad on the back of a very tight and disciplined group. Those who have caused issues in the past have been chopped and even the likes of Rose and Toby were left on the side lines when they werent seemingly 100% focused. Now the same is happening with Verts.....But to me the manager does not seem 100% focused. His media ramblings are simply weird half the time, unnecessarily most of the time and point to someone who himself not entirely focused.

He might not be 100% happy with his squad, but we are having the same old issues....Slow starts and often poor first halves, less than water tight defence which looks exposed at times. Real issues breaking down tight defences and a blatant lack of width. A lot of this is Poch issues - player selection, tactics etc, not player quality issues.

For me though its the intensity of our play. It's gone missing in all areas. We have long had an approach of keeping possession & eventually grinding them down but this simply isnt working and made worse by our worsening defence which now leaks goals. NUFC took the lead and had something to hold on to and defended like their lives depended on it.

Poch has inspired us to our highest position in decades. He needs to re-find this inspirational quality because at the moment he seems distracted, talks too much in the media and our play is suffering.

Our downturn in form coincided with the sale of Dembele, fully fit or not he is proving a huge miss.
