For all the bluster over Lennon not being the right man for the Celtic job, I’ve never heard anyone say he doesn’t have the backing of the team. He’s definitely a leader and identified and addressed our attacks were missing bite. He’s acted to speed up our play. Teams are finding they cannot contain us so easily anymore. He’s got potential.

We always here about how great a leader Scott Brown is on and off the park. Lennon was the same in his day. If asked to set up the team and decide on tactics I believe he can do this job well. And his team will play for him. Fight for him. We should want to see that determination.
Imagine Lennon in charge of the team, and a DoF to oversee team and squad are properly maintained. I think the Manager would have the best chance of pushing for 10IAR and achieving it. Our turnover of players makes us vulnerable at every window, waiting to see who will be sold and who replaces. There’s no possible excuse for weakening the team yet in recent windows this has been the case.
There are cover issues in the squad and I think a Director of Football could be a good appointment now. Think of a Mc Coist under Warburton scenario where the skills are split across posts to get the best Manager possible. That role could identify weaknesses within the squad and look to plug gaps. Also appoint projects and negotiate player sales. A single Manager dealing with every player and agent is not feasible.

Let Lawel and the DoF worry about player contracts. Give Lennon the authority to select his own team.
Year after year Celtic miss out on key signings in transfer windows and I don’t think the blame should lie with the Manager. Lawell negotiates the contracts and holds the purse strings. He has performed the duty of director of football for more than a decade without a footballing background. He’s a businessman. Lawell has put Celtic on the map and player sales are finally achieving figures of note. Players are achieving and speaking highly of their time at Celtic. I’d hate to see Celtic become a club only concerned with profits. History, Legacy, Legends. These things are all important too.
