With Ennis and Sterling showing potential as a striker, do we meed to panic and sign a "Number 9" today?
There is always the January window.
I find it hard tp believe we could sign a great striker this late in the window.

I reckon he'll keep on Anichebe as back up

Who are these people who dictate a 04:30 kick-off? Please, please, no more! Nearer Saturday I'll give my prediction.
Did anyone watch today's game? I did. Rovers played some lovely football, but three goals from 27 shots is not so good a return. However, not many were off-target, but their GK made some good saves (especially from Whiteman and the thunderbolt from Halladay), and so many were blocked by a defence that "parked the bus". We have to have more consistent skill to go through this sort of defence.
Earlier this season, Whiteman was going ever the bar many times, but today most of his efforts were on the ground. One may be lucky and some could go through this sort of defence, but today a little bit of lift may have worked.
At halftime I'd have taken Alfie off as he had a bad first period, but he was then a different player. His persistence and skill presented the cross for Sterling to score, and then his volley for the third goal was wonderful. However, I'm still a little worried about his League One skills, but he seems to be learning this season.
Although John was somewhat easily turned by their big striker after a Copps giveaway, I think he and Anderson will keep Wright out of the team - and he scored another goal!
An encouraging night, but a tougher test on Saturday.

Made my season debut last night.
Really enjoyed it especially second half.
The players seem to have good movement pushing forward exchanging positions.
I agree May was his normal poor self in the first half but second half was the standout player.
Impressed by all the players especially John who appears to be a bit of a character.

26 had a good first half apart from being caught in possession for their goal.
Pity the board are reluctant to invest in a striker but like most of us on here i am not suprised.

The club is now saying they made an approach for Herbie Kane but 2 weeks ago DM said there were nothing in rumours linking us with Kane ?

If Anichebe stays on he can certainly upset defences, albeit he is not prolific. Man City and Liverpool don't have a 6 foot plus centre forward yet score freely. Maybe we're all just behind the times.

Anichebe scored all his goals in 200 PL matches.
I doubt whether Marquis would get as many in the PL.

From what I've seen so far, I hope we dont sign Anchovy as I believe he would totally change the way we play.
We are currently the highest scoring team, at home in the EFL. 2nd only to liverpool out of the 91? This year.
Not a fan of Anchovy, his scoring record is not one to write home about and I'm more than happy play Ennis and Sterling. Who I think will be a future England striker.
The amount of chances we've been creating is unreal,
once it all clicks someone is going to get a hammering. Tomorrow would be nice, as they are playing their not so good keeper.
I'll go 4.1 victory, Taylor for 1st goal if he starts, Sadlier if he doesn't.

Rovers 1-1 Rovrum. Sterling to score

Cracking game. In the first half we played some good stuff but were being dominated by a bigger, stronger, quicker side. Rotherham had players who could play with their backs to goal, chest the ball down and pass to oncoming players but, despite their clear dominance, in a half with no clear chances their only shot on target was a free kick that beat everyone including the goalkeeper. (Indeed they only had the one shot on target in 95 mins.) In the second half, with Sterling swapped out for Ennis, for ten to fifteen minutes or so it looked like more of the same. May was subbed for Sadlier and Rovers started to ping the ball around. Maybe Rotherham had tired from all the pressing but Rovers started raining shots on target. On 66 mins Ennis did "a Sterling" and just wouldn't be shaken off the ball managing to cross it from the right as he fell, for an on-rushing Copps to whack it past their goalie from just inside the penalty area. On 88 minutes Ennis took the ball just within the Rotherham penalty area and as he twisted and turned with three hulking defenders in attendance one stuck out a leg bringing him down. He still got the shot away, albeit across the goal, as the ref signaled the penalty. Whiteman slotted it away and Rovers played out the five minutes of injury time for a famous win. Copps got MoM but it could easily have been Ennis, James or Anderson who all had excellent games. The latter two didn't put a foot wrong all afternoon.

Great use of subs again by DM. Very encouraging.

I look forward to your reports Albi; from the Artic Circle In Norway, thank you!
Perhaps I’ll forecast a win next time!

Thanks, Albi, for your report - I did not watch the game as it was too early for this old man! I cannot understand how the Free Press says "Coppinger's scuffed shot" as I thought it was the shot that was required to get over the defence and score. Also, this emphasis about a Rotherham player running across in front of Lawlor for their goal - OK, one did, but I've watched in slow motion and still believe Lawlor should have stopped it. He made a similar error earlier this season.
Why are so many games a "tale of two halves?" The subs. again, were an inspiration and changed the game. Is DM picking the wrong team to start?
I'm getting more confident with our back line - Anderson and John are a great middle pair, and James appears to have had a good game, and Halladay is improving with every game.
I'm more confident about the future, but a much harder test next Saturday.
By the way, if you think the Rovers left it late, the Portland Timbers got their winner on Saturday night in the 4th added minute.

Copps did scuff his shot.
He topped it into the ground and it “top spun” off the ground high into the net.

The thing with the Rotherham goal is that Lawlor had to wait that split second longer to decide where the ball was going.
Was their player (number 20 I think) going to get a touch and change the direction of the ball?
The 20 didn’t touch it as it happens but by then the ball was on its way past Lawlor.
The 20 would have been offside had he got a touch as can be clearly seen from the highlights as he was the player furthest forward when the free kick was played.

However, the ref did have the option of declaring him to be interfering with play as he obviously made a big difference to what would have been a routine save had he not tried to get his head on the ball.
