Veron would be a big one for me. Looked sensational at times.
I’d add Kagawa and Mkhitaryan for definite. Anderson looked like he was going to be brilliant for us after his first season. And Kleberson - I thought he’d do well after that World Cup but it never really happened for him. Berbatov never quite hit the heights he could have, not consistently anyway.
Quite a few at United. Mainly creative types.
sturridge was a rotten egg? bad attitude? he was a hypochondriac or however its called sure but he always seemed a nice guy in the behind the scenes videos, was a good mentor to the young lads coming through too.
Guy was a quality footballer just made of weetabix and seemed terrified of playing with any pain.
Alonso for us, Rafa tryna replace him with Barry :/.
I thought Rebrov would be great for us. His first season 2000/01 he showed some glimpses of class (goals in the cup v West Ham) but then when hoddle became our manager he just didn’t rate him, when he was clearly our best player.
Sandro and Palacios too. Sandro had awful luck with injuries and Palacios never recovered from the kidnap and murder of his brother.
Adel Taarabt. Had all the talent but whenever he played he looked unfit and uninterested.
Apparently he's at Benfica now, and played his first game for them in four years in March.
Ravel Morrison.
We should be talking about a United and England player entering his prime years.
For more established players that were signed then Mkhitaryan was a major disappointment as was Di Maria (after a brilliant start).
Robert Pires - not "career" as such. But his final game for us was that heartbreaking CL final where he had to be substituted in the 1st half.
Abou Diaby - injuries, injuries, injuries. Had everything to be a top B2B midfielder.
Ashley Cole - just pay him the damn 5k.
Koscielny and Fabregas - should have won at least 1 league title with us before they left.
Morientes. Absolute quality player in Spain but couldn't cut it at Liverpool.
Ledley King too
Made far too few appearances for us. Despite his constant knee injuries he was one of the best defenders in the league and made a massive difference to us when he played.
Torres....no doubt, - took a huge risk on him @£50m & he was nothing but a big jessie half the time....had one superb season at Liverpool, until he got injured
Boy did we fall for that one
There have been a few over the years at OT.
Neil Webb, a superb passer of the ball who never really recovered from a snapped Achilles Tendon.
Gary Birtles, good striker at Forest, went to a one goal in five for us.He couldn't live up to his fee.
biggest regret?
it wouldn't be sturridge I reckon.
there's a few "rumoured" moves that never were.
1. Ronaldo. total tw..t but we were rumoured prior to his move.
2. aguero. great player strongly linked before we went nearly bust in 2008-10
So then there's the I wish we never did that players.
1. balotelli.
2. Paul Stewart.
3. most of souness signings.
then those who got away
1. Alonso. if anything he only got better and better and we lost a real world class player.
2. Suarez. I wish he didn't use biting as a tactic. I note he never bit anyone at Barca.
Ray Wilkins, probably the best CM in the league at Chelsea, great vision, good goal scorer, great long range of passing. Became the crab at United.
Veron, superb player, just didn’t work for us. Stan, beast of a defender far too short a career at Utd

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know he's not who you're referring to, but Collymore? A lot feel he underachieved wherever he went with the exception of Forest.
Eduard da Silva. How different things might have been if he didn't have his career ruined by a professional thug. Not only for him but for Arsenal, who were surely on their way to the title in 08.
He was a lethal, lethal finisher.
As above, Diaby is a big miss. One must also wonder how things might have been if Wilshere and Ramsey avoided their injuries. Although the latter is now at Juve, he's never reached his early potential after being shawcrossed.
Frank Merida is another. Should've been the next Cesc.

But shout on Stam, and of course Fergie himself said that letting him go was probably an error.
I can't believe I didn't think about Owen Hargreaves! His career was completely destroyed by injuries but had he stayed fit, he would have been a top class player for us. People often forget that he actually played a lot of games at RM & RB rather than CM/CDM but regardless, a very good player that would have been a real asset for us - especially in those two CL finals against Barca.

Was on holiday in Magaluf just after Rebrov had gone to Spurs.
Some Spurs fan was bragging about how good he was and how he'd make Spurs champions. It was bad enough people laughing at him, but a couple of days later he'd laid in the sun and got someone to suncream 'Rebrov' '11' on his back...
