I guess each instance would need to be looked at individually. I would wager most would prefer being called a choc ice (rio to ashley cole) for example than a dead family member being dragged up, on the flip side a hate crime is probably worse.

I honestly believe that racism is more in feeling than actual words, hard to describe exactly what I mean, I grew up in a very multi cultural neighborhood where racial banter and stero types was the norm.. so now I hear AJ say things like 'superior black race' to a fellow boxer and I'm not offended in the slightest..

that said, monkey chants to a black footballer is disgraceful.. because its fans of a certain colour, targeting a player of a different colour (doesn't matter which way round), whom are not mates, and banter is not appropriate.
