Too right. Obviously there are no guarantees in life but if I had to bet on any former player succeeding as a top flight mananger it's him.
And he may even have a so so first season but Fergie had four of those at Utd before he turned things round. Just hope the club show Lamps the patience he deserves and obviously needs as a rookie manager learning on the go. No excuses for them not to.
It's gunna come down to whether he has a talent for it or not. Some former players do, some don't, but if he does he'll find it.

I'm confident that long term he will be a success. The problem is that historically our board don't like the long game, but circumstances dictate that they are gna have to learn to lump it IMO, especially while we have a transfer ban which means that none of the big-name charlie's that they normally would wet their pants over would touch us at the mo.
He ticks lot's of boxes for me. An IQ of 153 is always gna be something handy to call upon when the inevitable lessons, growing pains and learning curves that we are going through at the moment are being handed out.
If there were any big ego's and "Show us your medals merchants" in the current squad they are not gna fancy quoting that to him or challenging his methods, coz he's got the entire set as a player when it comes to the domestic and European scene.
Vastly experienced playing career under many so-called big-name managers will inevitably mean that he will have a keen insight on how the others do it and he can then decide to either incorporate what he will have learned off of them or alternatively reject it for a different approach if that's what he feels is required.
He clearly loves the Club and having had such a successful and distinguished playing career with it he will carry the goodwill of all of us (or he certainly should do IMO) so if patience is required then even the glory-hunting or spoilt individuals amongst our fanbase will need to reign in their knee-jerk reactions a bit.
We have gorged ourselves on silverware over the last 15 years, so the desire to have to clean up every trophy that moves is not as acute as it inevitably would be amongst fanbases and Club's that desperately need and want to win something. Having said that, I wouldn't turn down anything, but it's not currently the be all and end all for us, we are working on where our Club goes in the future and I for one feel excited about the current situation and the challenges that are presenting themselves.
I guess the acid test is enjoying what we're seeing when we play....thus far it's been head & shoulders above what Sarri was doing (albeit he was successful eventually) - hoping it continues to be aestetically pleasing whilst also effective.
