Our support

Well said

There is a bastion of ultra loyalist whanks that colour the view of our support. They want to continue singing schite, abusing our own fans for supporting the SNP etc.

They are though being overwhelmed by the majority of decent supporters. The aye bit schite should stop no need to point out Celtic supporters issues while we have our own to sort.

Though i can agree with some of their complaints that us being called h*ns, OB's etc isn't dealt with similarly, it should be but that is the job for authorities.

Well you do trips to Linfield and have para days etc that kinda panders to certain elements. I do agree that in 2019 people need to be more open minded (should have been long ago!)

I support Rangers because that is who my dad used to take me to see more than anyone when I was growing up and so I feel at home at Ibrox.

None of the other stuff matters a jot to me. I find the stereotypes of Rangers fans a bit ridiculous but at the same time I do understand (rightly or wrongly) that it means different things to different people and there is still that 'traditional' element within our support.

Some people are brought up with the focus on the religious and hatred aspects of it. But for me it genuinely never even come into it - I am married to a catholic, my son was baptised in a chapel and I cant stand the Royal Family.

The club are definitely trying to move on though and we need it to sink in fast or we will be playing to empty stadiums.

If fans really feel the need to 'hate' a rival then they can still do it without bringing religion into it or using the death of a players sister to score cheap points.

I think a lot of it is just brainless indoctrination TBH - from parents, friends, relatives etc.

I think people are going a wee bit over the top here

1)song singing, look we all fecking do it and will continue to do it, all that has to be done is for it not to be sung near the stadium, simple as, people ‘culture’ etc can continue, as with the hatred of Celtic, yeah some hate them cos of the whole catholic v Protestant, I just don’t like them cos of the rivalry but I will call them dirty cheating f3nien cvnts,

2) the comment to browny, yup completely uncalled for but I also think it’s been blown up a wee bit, ffs people calling for rangers to apologise etc, we have all had śhitey things shouted at us before, it was horrible but let’s not go OTT especially when cvnts are so quick to make reference to ricksen or the 66 people who died at ibrox

3) politics, no place for it at all in football, so this if you support the SNP then you are not a Rangers fan stuff is just fvcking stupid but well, when you look at the way the independence referendum has split the country you can see why some people have a strong dislike for SNP

posted on 5/9/19

Also see that trial by internet on the guy who supposedly shouted the comment then it was proven not to be him, did any of the supporters from Celtic or rangers who spread his name about apologise? Fvck no, they just deleted their comments or their full profile

I really don't understand how the Rangers fans can continue with the catholic hating pash when various members of our own team and staff are catholics.

That for me just reinforces the sheer idiocy of it all.

Did you take me off filter to make that comeback?!

That was a waste then.

Spot on, OP.

... And I'd totally echo that for the numerous dh1cks in our own support, with their "songs", politics, flares and whatever else. We're a fooking FOOTBALL club ... end of. Leave the other agendas out of it FFS, as the club suffers from all this toxic, outdated bollox. As the OP said, it's 2019. Get a grip.

We've had the Uefa punishments over the songs, and then the Scott Brown thing happened at the weekend there

There’s posts all over social media, by fans asking for the singing to stop and condemning what was said to Brown.....which are being countered by other fans saying there's too many snowflakes in our support, saying they are disgusted by the "grasses" within our support, and pointing out that our neighbours have done far worse and Uefa only cared about the songs since Lawwell got a job with them

Some of the stuff I've read is truly pathetic
Read a post this morning going on about how there is no such thing as "The Rangers Family" anymore

A lot of melodramatic nonsense mate.
Very little support for songs add ons etc.
Not sure where you are looking but noisy folk and empty vessels comes to mind.

There’s a simple point to be made here

There is such a thing as the Rangers Family
What makes you a part of it....is being a Rangers supporter....that is it.

Each to their own I guess but as a collective supporting the team can be as a family including diverse views.

See all this $hite about having particular political views, and getting angry at fellow supporters for not "defending their own"....it's all bull$hit

It is yes and very little goes on.
Pretty obvious that a core Rangers support are pro unionist but plenty are not.

The reason our support is fractured is because some people have a preordained view of what a Rangers supporter is.....they have to do this, they have to support that, they are "wan o them" if they don't".....fck off!!

I think you do, no more ‘fractured’ than at any other time. You say we should have different views which is great. But then call it fractured when we do. Aye OK….

Being a Rangers supporter, means you support the club and care about it more than your own personal agenda.

Why would that have to be the case. Perhaps other agenda items are more important.
For the most part they should not entwine granted.

The singing is hurting the club.....supporting and continuing the singing won't help the club.....it is that simple.

It’s pretty much gone as it did before, hopefully for good. The VAST majority will win the day.

The Scott Brown thing......it was deplorable what was said, and folk are not being snowflakes for condemning it, it's paints all Rangers supporters in a bad light, whether it was one stupid young boy or not.....what was said has nothing to do with the rivalry or Rangers Football Club....and anything that's has been said or done in the past in connection with Celtic....again...has sod all to do with the incident at the weekend or Rangers Football Club, so stop bringing it up.

The very act you bring this up is strange. 1 wee moron ……I’m questioning the whole post now????

The one way to unite our support is to concentrate on the one thing that matters...the club itself and its wellbeing, fck all else matters.

Lots of other stuff matters FFS. But football is football and Rangers is as broad a church as any.
So views will differ which I think you said you wanted….

To be part of the Rangers family, all you have to be is a Rangers supporter

Voting for a particular political party, denouncing the Scotland national team, following a particular religion, blindly defending folk with a particular shirt or scarf on no matter what they do even if the club suffers as a result of their actions....none of these things make you anymore of a Rangers fan than the next in anyway, shape or form

It's 2019 ffs, folk need to move on from this stuff, some of us already have, others just do not want to or know they should but are just to stubborn to do so....that is why our support is continually divided over these things. The world has changed, the club and it's support is changing with it

Support the club...that's all the matters, having any other "add-ons" in your makeup, they do not matter and have sod all to do with the football or the club itself so please, fcking leave it out!

Quite possibly the worst OP I’ve seen in quite some time….

One thing I’ve never done is hidden on here.

Sorry I was busy.

But, after some of the stuff you’ve been posting recently, you should maybe take your own advice.

I’m not sure why anyone should feel a club or another group of supporters should apologise for the behaviour of others.

Just out the idiots but at least make sure you properly identify them first before lighting the bonfires and sharpening the pitchforks.

As for the daft boy who shouted at Brown. A decent back handed slap right across his ear from one of his own fellow supporters would have sufficed and said everything we all wanted.

Ive pulled up Celtic fans for having a right go at a Rangers supporter outside our ground before and glad I did so. With some of the idiots we’ve got I’m not so sure I’d do it again in all honesty which is damning in itself.

Good to see you again Stevie.

I genuinely think though the perception is driven by noisey idiots on social media.

I like many support rangers because it's who my dad supported. His mum was Catholic but he wouldn't say he is of any religion much like myself.

I'm also married to a Catholic and I also vote SNP albeit I was previously all for the Union. Thinks change though and I no longer think it's a union worth being in.

I think the vast majority of rangers fans don't care about religion at all and it's just match day tribalism. I would say we probably have more than our share of non indy voters but even then a fair chunk of the rangers fans I know vote SNP.

I'm with you being a rangers fan is about that and nothing else but I'll be honest I think it's the same for the majority of fans

I am out of kilter with many Celtic fans. I am very proud of the Irish connection in founding our great team but have zero Irish connection myself. I don't sing any of the Irish songs - like some of the tunes - as nothing to do with the Tic in my opinion. I detest any RA references as nothing whatsoever to do with my club. However there are many who sing these with gusto and love their club every bit as much as I do a football team's support is a very broad church with the whole spectrum of humanity within from the pond life right through to fantastic guys like myself
