Are people aware of England's role in what happened in Zimbabwe and the rest of former Africa colonies by extension?

Mugabe was a cretin but the way people are going to town on him on here you wonder whether we know that we've got far worse in our midst and in our history.

The colonizers did not starve their own people.
As for Mugabe ...

By no way am I protecting mugabe but the colonisers were serial offenders when it comes to starving people.

What you're saying is the coloniser took what they wanted to feed their own to the detriment of the native people.

Every bit as bad as mugabe or any other dictator.

posted on 6/9/19

That’s true. Basically they were just a bigger scale version or a collective of mugabe

they withheld food to cause famines..? anything to back that up

The history of the British empire is quite sanitised in England and many people don't know.

For instance, the best lands were occupied by white settlers while natives all lived in camps to provide labour to these camps.

Starvation, death and false imprisonment in your own motherland was the order of the day. Mugabe was cretinous but not the worst that Zimbabwe has seen for sure.

The worst they've seen was us.

Totally agree with the fake ‘nostalgia’ of the great empire, read up on it and you’ll find that it’s far from great for the colonised countries

posted on 6/9/19

Agreed DD.

Its hard for some to connect the dots between colonisation and modern problems facing a lot of these countries.

The education system is sanitised and media coverage is generally a joke.

2 wrongs don't make a right. Yes, Britain has a chequered past and were cvnts, but bringing up Britains wrongdoings to lighten what Mugabe did is BS. It seems to be the fashion to hate on the UK these days. There isn't a week that goes by without someone demanding a statue be pulled down or going off on one because they disapprove of the new face on the £20 note.

The land grab in Zimbabwe backfired big time, and if my memory serves me right, Zimbabwe's new leader has learnt from past mistakes and started handing the land back to the rightful owners. You don't cut your nose off to spite your face.

I haven't seen anyone doing this but yes, it would be BS if that happened.

Luckily it hasn't.
