Its a poor competition of that there is no doubt, think I read somewhere it was costing clubs much needed cash just being in it, if true that's just not right.

Absolutely. I think most clubs are losing money in the competition and I think I read somewhere that you pretty much have to get to the final to break even.
I'm pretty sure the SPFL is covering transport costs if you have to leave Scotland though, so it's worth saying that, but even then there's no money to be made, and the prestige of winning the cup has been diminished because of the changes made to the competition.

The half way point between Dingwall and Connah's Quay.

They basically want to ensure as big a crowd as possible. Obviously with County being in the final last year the natural place was Inverness (I'm assuming there are flights from Wales to Inverness airport?).
When United won it a couple of years ago it was played at Fir Park because we were playing St Mirren. I think we played a final in the 90s against Stenny at McDiarmid.
