I have to disagree Ivan, sure Rangers fans have to take some blame, but the Tartan army have to also shoulder blame. The Scotland fans have recently turned the national team into being a political team, pro SNP and anti Rangers with it also.

Whoever caused it, there needs to be bridges built and fans of both sides and the SFA need to sort it out. It's one of the major issues of why we are so shieyte right now. There shouldn't be sides to blame here, it needs fixing.

That's not something I've been particularly aware of but then as I said I've been disenfranchised the last few years. What pro-SNP songs/banners/chants etc has their been?

I don't blame the SFA.

what evidence have you got to back that up? For someone who says they've totally given up/not watched Scotland for a while it seems you know quite a lot.

I've been to lots of home Scotland games over the last few years and an away trip and never encountered any fans who were pushing any political agenda

I may be mistaken - and I often am - but when Rangers fans are singing about 'sending the Irish home' I don't think they are meaning a medieval invading army, are they? I think that significantly changes the meaning of the song.

Rangers fans never actually sing about sending the Irish home, happy to clear that up

There has been zero chants etc about it Ivan, but it's clear what's going on. The Tartan army fans are pro Scotland and anti Scotland within the UK, partly why everything Rangers is being attacked by them. The Tartan army are now made up of fans like yourself who are outwith the OF fans and outwith Glasgow. That's all well and good, but there aren't enough of you considering Rangers are arguably the largest supported team within the Scottish population.

The Welsh and Northern Irish aren't having to deal with this nationalism shieyte amongst our support like we are, which is also dividing our nation. Mad that the NI fans aren't having to deal with it I know. When their fans support their national team, they all come together.

Flower of Scotland! it's a very anti English and that's the reason I like it so much.

but there are people out there claiming it should be abolished for these reasons!

i think the best line i read was "if we can't sing about sending the Irish home why can Scotland sing about sending the English home"

as hilarious as it is there is probably a tiny wee bit of truth in there
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Seriously? One is about winning an ancient battle, the other is about sending Irish back for being Irish.

This discussion has gone way off course.

That's a clubs fans song (unofficially), not a national team song and you just proved my point by mixing up club issues with our national team.

Lots of points in here, but the one that jumps out for me is that you claimed it's a pro-SNP thing, when in fact it seems you meant a pro-independence thing.

I'm aware that against England there were chants of 'you can stick your fecking Union up your erse', but apart from that (arguably very understandable) incident, what other examples do you have?

It also made me chuckle that you highlighted the fact that Scotland supporters are pro-Scotland

Ivan I clearly posted - The Tartan army fans are pro Scotland and anti Scotland within the UK.

I get that me saying pro Scotland was kinda obvious and it's a hard topic to discuss because so much of it is nuanced.

Me saying it was a pro SNP thing clearly meant an Independance thing. When they are the only Independance party who campaign on that. C'mon, you knew that anyway. Don't be a phanny.

Let's pick out another couple of things.

"The Tartan army are now made up of fans like yourself who are outwith the OF fans and outwith Glasgow. That's all well and good, but there aren't enough of you"

Well I don't have the stats but I imagine there probably are enough of us, but the bigger issue is that holding the games midweek is damaging the supporter base because people like me in the north east of Scotland - where traditionally a large chunk of the Scotland support has come from - is disadvantaged in attending the game. If I had went last night I'd have done well to be in my bed by 2am such is the traffic getting away from Hampden.

"Mad that the NI fans aren't having to deal with it I know. When their fans support their national team, they all come together."

Well. Where to start with this one?

I'm not a NI fan so it's not my area of expertise, but I suspect the likes of Neil Lennon might have had slightly different experiences than that of which you have described.

The Greens campaign on independence.

Again though, in what way are the tartan army openly advocating an independent Scotland at football matches? Where is your evidence for this?

Pro SNP

Ffs from a support who use a Scotland song to change the words too “we’re the volunteers of the UDA”

Also this booing of Ryan Jack is just another excuse not to go from Rangers fans

It shouldn't have happened but he had just left Aberdeen to go to Rangers, the game was at Pittodrie with what I can safely assume were mostly Aberdeen fans in attendance. He has played several games since with no booing.

I remember going to a Scotland v Bosnia game at Ibrox and Gary McAllister got booed
