James Maddison

That midfield two is AIDS. Maddison is a decent player but slightly overrated..I wouldn’t want to build the side around him yet... once RLC is back a 4-3-3 with him and Maddison/Mount/Barkley and Winks/Hendo/Rice sitting.

Also perhaps a good argument to play TAA in midfield with our depth at RB. I don’t subscribe to the, thankfully dying idea, that he’s a ‘natural CM’ and will eventually move there permanently but it does make sense in this England side as it stands.

Just don't think Barkley is International standard, V inconsistent and too sloppy with possession for Intl Football. I like Mount, think he has a big future. Agree Re the DMs....I guess LT it might be Winks/Rice with RLC, Maddison, Mount & Dele competing for the No 10 role

Milner is England's best CM.

----------------------------------------------------------------------Other than AWB I dont think any of our FBs are that great defensively so any of Trips, TAA, Rose, Chilwell could play as WBs and then you just play Slabhead, Stones & Gomez in a back 3 ? Keane Can fack off.... Never gonna be good enough for Intl football

Maddison is good but overrated. Probably didnt want to join spurs because of game time he'd get more at Leicester. Would have been a great signing of course for what he initially cost

I like Maddison, but are Leicester making progress over Spurs, only since they won the title, they have finished a long way behind Spurs every season.

Hundreds of bog standard players get caps like confetti for England nowadays. Haven`t got a clue what England`s team is nowadays, other than I know Kane starts most matches.

Spurs missed out on a lot of good english players now shining due to apprently pursuing inferior players instead. Although we do not know that we could have been in for the players but they'd prefer moves elsewhere. With the wages at spurs and unlikelihood of a trophy it is seriously difficult to turn the heads.

Leicester's recruitment is spot on and they have a very good squad, best outside the top 6 and they could challenge for a top 6 place.

Rice is massively overrated. Other than being a big lad in the middle what else does he offer. He's not very mobile. His basic passing is ok but for me looks like a CB playing in midfield. Would rather have Winks play that role.

Yeah... Hurts to say but Leicester have seen success more recently than us and probably on average pay better wages... Their owners are loaded. Though they might come short of Top 4. They'll probably win a domestic cup before Spurs. Rogers was a very smart hire too

Mount looked promising when he came in.
Is he with Chelsea?

Winks should play, especially when very little defending is required

these limited players can shine at a small club like west ham. Dier would also look good there.

Was at Wembley on Saturday for the Bulgaria game and have to say, the team we had out on Sat was screaming for Maddison to replace Barkley

posted on 11/9/19

Barkley just isn't good enough, he has spells but if he's a starter England won't be winning anything.

Totally agree with kash. Rice is Dier in disguise, and we Spurs fans had to listen to years of moaning from England supporters about Dier being so bang average. Rice needs to stop passing backwards, it doesn't ever help the team and it's miserable to watch. If you can't take a pass with your back to play, and then find a forward (or at least sideways positive) move, don't pretend you're a top level midfielder.

I know there's a bit of a bandwagon thing going on with Maddison atm but actually I don't really understand his lack of game time for England.

Barkley has never really established himself for Chelsea and appears to be consistently inconsistent. I certainly wouldn't want to rely on him being the creative spark from midfield.

Then Mount comes off the bench. Now from the little I've seen I really like the look of Mount and he's started the season impressively for Chelsea but how can he be ahead of Maddison in the pecking order off the back of 4 good games for Chelsea? He's played 6 top level games of football and a third of them are for England!

Maddison has earned a chance off the back of a good season last year and a good start this year. It would appear Southgate disagrees though sadly.

Re-CM; I'm not actually averse to 2 more defensively minded players in CM. Our FBs are attacking and our front 3 are excellent but our CBs need protection. A Henderson and Winks/Rice combo may not be exciting but it's probably needed.
