Would You Start Sterling at Liverpool?

The new Shaq.

No one. We are not blessed with KDB or the Silva's in our team so our front 3 do the business almost individually while outperforming Sterling last 2 seasons. Not including Firmino in this debate as he's totally different.

Sterling is a very intelligent football and can adapt to a number of positions, we saw that when he did play for Liverpool. So if he were dropped into the Liverpool squad right now then I suspect he'd play the attacking midfielder role that Coutinho played for us and one Ox has played pre-injury. Arguably his best form for Liverpool was playing centrally behind Suarez and Sturridge and I think it's a position he could excel at.

The more likely answer to the question however is that if Sterling were still at the club then we probably wouldn't have brought Salah and our front 3 would be Mane, Firmino and Sterling.

If he was still at the club, I imagine we wouldn't have bought Salah? So he would be playing up top with Mane and Bobby I would think.

Yes and Id drop Wijnaldum.

Didn't Rodgers spend the money on Benteke

Sterling is the best English player right now. He is one of the best players in Europe on current form. I think he has had a great career and Brendan did a great job with him in my opinion. He would make a great squad player for this elite club

Probably not straight away, whoever was in the best form would play

I think Sterling would get in over Firmino and Mane if push came to shove.

Of course we can add Sterling into the line up. Klopp has used a 4-2-3-1 formation with Dortmund in the past. We can have Naby and Fabinho sitting. Firmino as the 10, Mane and Sterling on the wings, and Salah up top.

Sterling will need Firmino in team. You can't have 3 speedsters running after the ball.

Mane is a better player than Sterling.

Mane is the best he has ever been right now and excellent, but the form of Sterling is slightly ahead of the form of Mane.

I'd play him ahead of Firmino....at a push.

He's actually going to end up centrally not too long from now.

Depebds what you want.

Mane is quite obviously better with his weaker foot, in the air and a better striker of the ball.

Sterlings movement and decision making is insane.

Looks to me like Sterling is a better dribbler and better in tight spaces, too. Debatable though

What are basing this on? Yes Sterling has more goals this season (not including these England goals against pub teams). Loads of tap in's.

However what Mane brings to the team is way more. The close control, the power, the x factor and the ability to score a goal out of nothing. Loads of times we are playing crap and Mane out of nothing bangs one in. This is without having players like KDB and the Silva's in midfield.

Huh...I think I can count the number of times, on one hand, any of our players scored a goal out of nothing.

Based on his stats - assists and goals. Sterling got 10 assists last season to Mane's 1, and 11 the season before to Mane's 7.

I just think Sterling is the slightly more dangerous player right now, although if I was to take anyone out of the equation it would be Firmino.

In ranking of ability i'd say it goes:

Salah
Mane = Sterling
Firmino

Sterling is a better player than Firmino overall so I guess he would replace him but I'm not sure that would make us a better team.

Firmino is extremely important to our side, he is the thread that knits it all together, Mane and Salah aren't half as effective without him.

Salah is better than Sterling, Sterling is the same level as Mane.

Yeah thats a tricky one. Both exceptionally strong and protect the ball well.

Mane vs Saints
Salah vs Arsenal (2nd)
Trent vs Burnley

That's 3 out of nothing this season alone

Mane is a decent player granted, but what are you basing this on?

VVD won the POTY last season, but there really couldnt have been many grumbles had it been given to sterling who also had an exceptional season.

Sterling has started this season better than Mane too in my opinion.

As a neutral i'd take sterling over Mane
