Pepe a £72m flop

Too early to call him a flop but what worries me is his decision making. Could be trying too hard to impress

Deserves a season at least

Emery on the other hand looks done, same mistakes every week with no real idea of what's going to work long term

The squad is now good enough to compete for top four (behind the big two basically) but the managerial decisions are not good enough

A little harsh, don't you think? At least give him till Christmas until you judge. Apart from that, I'm not sure you're right, the problem is that Arsenal don't have a solid base to provide this type of player the opportunity to shine.

Get him on his right foot and hes garbage.

Do you really believe that your squad is good enough?

The defence & midfield are a total shambles and the only reason your around those positions is the 2 strikers!

Like VVD in his first half dozen matches?

He is excellently balanced and agile for a 6”0 player

The squad is as good/bad as United, Chelsea or Spurs

Ours is obviously very attack heavy with dross defense but it is better than the performances because frankly the manager appears clueless

All four teams have problems which will likely show at the end, obviously some will do better than others

Spurs may well solidify their position in third but for United, Chelsea and Arsenal it's almost certainly going to be another long season

Gervinho-esque

"I know its only 5 games so we can't judge him yet"

Changed your article for you.

I mean 5 games in a foreign league in a team with a weak midfield and back line.

I haven't been impressed since he walked through the door.
£72m is a bad buy regardless

Still very early to judge. He doesn't seem to be fully expressing himself. Even though I think Zaha would have been the better fit, you will have to make this judgement on Pepe after at least 10 games

I’d like to put it down to match sharpness but he is looking rather predictable. In his defence though their were opportunities to play him in first half but for a bad pass and a goal could really help his confidence. Watching the French league last night, the game was so open, he won’t get that space in the premier league.

Seems ok at tackling, dribbling, running, quite strong.

Just that final ball or shot seems lacking at the mo.

He needs to be more Thierry and less Theo.

He is 24 not 20 so he should be ready in his development.

£72m is crazy for the Ivorian Welbeck

£72m for a player who can only kick with his left foot . I'm not impressed so far . He was bought to be a speedy winger to create chances for Auba and Laca but who could also score goals. No evidence of any of this so far. I suspect that Emery is ruining yet another good player who is worth more like £25m than the crazy price which we paid.

I mentioned it after the liverpool game he does nit look like he could do that final killer ball or finish. Still.esrly days but I think he will struggle to get 10 goals

Bit early yet to form an opinion as it takes a while to get used to the pace and power of the PL, however he does seem very left footed and experienced defenders will quickly learn to force him onto his right.

At the moment he doesn't seem over £40m more of an improvement over Iwobi.

Only time will tell , assuming we find the right position to play him , we certainly cant afford to play both him and Ozil together though.

Or less Iwobi

5 games

Harsh OP. At least let the man get double figures under his attendance belt before you cuss him off as a flop. I can assure you that VVD disagrees with your premature assessment of Pepe's ability. Plenty been in the league years and not managed to harass him like Pepe did.

Difficult for a winger to step into this team and shine instantly. We're just not in a squad state for that to happen. Most of what's wrong is nothing to do with Pepe or his ability. He's the last person who deserves criticism at this point.

I honestly would have preferred Zaha as he is PL proven and ready but to call him a flop after 5 games is insane.

Remember he had no pre-season and has only started 3 PL games.

I'm with you. Of the first five games, three were against teams we should have beaten (and in the case of the first two, did), so they were perfect test cases.

His decision making and finishing are terrible. Those aren't the sort of things that take time to develop at a new club.
