Often not always and the majority of times its poor fans.

Have you seen the videos above. Steward clearly has no reason to rugby tackle a young lad to the floor for celebrating a goal and then eject him from the stadium. Watch any single game of professional football and those nearest the front dash to try and join in the celebrations. So long as they dont step on the pitch what harm are they doing? Good policing understands this and allows them their 60-seconds before returning the away to order.

Poor stewarding has provoked this situation. Fans see that one of their own has been taken away and then react to it. Sounds like the steward has then goaded the Leeds fans until he himself was removed from the ground but not before a Leeds fan managed to assault him. Cant condone that at all but its all started by poor stewarding.

Kebab, yes I get that bit.. but being provoked isn't an excuse for violence, its still mindless behavior by the others who have nothing at all to do with the situation... yes I believe the steward was very wrong in this case...

I'm no shrinking violet Kebab, I just hate any form of violence at sports events.. I'm 6ft, 13 stone, in good shape and spent some time in boxing clubs training as an ammeter, so its not like I can't handle myself, I just simply wouldn't lower myself to having a dust up at a football match, with or without my mates there.

Also, It was an awful Rugby tackle, low and hard, ring of steel, squeeze the legs and push with your shoulder... stay there until the ref says 'hold'

The steward put his colleagues at risk, that could have easily exploded with his actions!..

The Police should take a look at his handling off the situation and if need be have him for assault, maybe the celebrating fan that it seems did nothing threatening could take it further!..

But football being the way it is he'll more than likely get a Ken Bates thrown at him!..

The Steward is more than likely a Barnsley fan with the good old bias streak in him!..

Not sure if the trouble started with the incident in the videos, but I saw nothing wrong with what the fan who was tackled was doing. He wasn't anywhere near the pitch!
If the lad being manhandled and taken away from the game triggered further violence then there ought to be repercussions for Barnsley FC as he was their employee and should have known better.
Violence is never the answer, but people in "crowd control" shouldn't ever provoke it in that manner.
Just judging by one of the Leeds stewards I've encountered - sometimes I think the 'power' goes to their heads. She was a right sour-faced jobsworth in the West stand.

45 is spot on in regards to power going to there heads.

I was there and without a doubt this was initially caused by an over the top steward.

But the amount of grown men who took that as an excuse to try to abuse and assault the other stewards was embarrassing. Pretty sure I saw an older steward walk off holding his arm and get treatment by paramedics - he did nothing to deserve that.

I remember going to Barnsley away a few years ago when Monk was in charge. All the policing and stewarding was a complete mess and there was loads of trouble down the bottom left of the stand.

Is this why it was closed for this game?

Looks like it was badly policed again, but let’s not pretend our fans don’t play their part as well.

Seen plenty of clips of that one steward who goads the fans, it’s petty but they should know that something like that can be the catalyst for a world of trouble. Idiot should suspended for that.

Worth saying as well the video of that ginger bloke getting floored looks barbaric. Absolutely no need for that from the angles I’ve seen and another shocking example of stewarding.

Hopefully the Media watch out for the prat in games to come!..

And hopefully they ask questions about the lad who was insulted and ask what's happening with him!..
