On a limited budget taking over an average squad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At the end of the day no manager is going to take an average squad on a limited budget and end up winning consistently. It just doesn't happen.
I like Guardiola and Klopp, and I think we are incredibly lucky to have them managing teams in the premier league. Both also pretty lively personalities, and two different philosophies. Poch I want to like but I'm not so sure - just can't understand why he sticks with Spurs under Levy. Lack of ambition? Fear of having no excuses?

I reckon it's the £8,000,000 salary while not having to win anything.

He must have been looking at Wenger for inspiration.
All great managers are sore losers. Fergie was one of the most bitter after a loss.
That is what you need if you want to succeed.

yup stones and otamendi are just not great players, but he has certainly improved them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wouldn't say he's improved them.
Generally, most teams don't bother trying to cross the half way line when playing City, so these players have it quite easy.
Put either of those two under pressure, and they are an accident waiting to happen.

Klopp is so humble he blames the wind. Pep usually comes across as the most humble out of all the top coaches.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought that. I get people that criticise him for certain things, humility isn’t one of those though unless people don’t watch or listen to him much.
I kind of get the many comments from people saying they’d like to see him manage a ‘mid table’ or ‘average’ club but then, let’s be realistic, why would he or anyone do that lol.
melts, yeah strange thing to criticise him for.

By anyone, I mean, anyone in Pep’s position.

The funny thing is that there are people that genuinely don’t have any respect for him, or his achievements, because he won’t.

Do you think he could do what Klopp and Poch have done by building a squad on a budget and having to sell your best players?
It will be interesting to see if he can coach Stones and Otamendi to become better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Otamendi has already been improved, mainly by staying on his feet more often...
As for Stones he’s tarted the past two seasons really well, usually gets injured around Christmas and never looks the same when he comes back. If I had to take an educated guess I think there are other factors with Stones, has a bit of a Michael Johnson vibe.

"squad on a budget and having to sell your best player"
bit of an oxymoron. Klopp was lucky in a way to inherit a team with valuable players so he could spend a fortune on the like of fabinho, allison, vvd etc

Wow.
Great manager. It doesn't matter if anyone likes him or not. Few managers are likeable, especially when they lose.
I'm looking forward to seeing Pep under less than ideal conditions. He always had Vinnie to steady the ship, whether from the bench or on the pitch- and now he's light centre-backs in a bad way. It's times like this when you really find out just what a brilliant manager can do. I don't think he'll give the title away.
Tbf he’s won titles with Delph/Zinchenko being his main LBs after injuries to his original key full back man

I never understand comments like this. Could it not be that City are so good that they don't let the average teams trouble them like a really good side would.
Pep's football is probably the most mentally exhausting football one can play in the current game.
You earn the right to go into games with the other side feeling disadvantaged or beaten. United are seeing the reverse now where teams see them more and more as equals and fancy their chances.
