It’s been a long running joke. Trouble is it’s starting to get boring.
Can you blame the manager? Has he been backed fully?
Or has he found his level? Should Spurs go all out for Mourinho and start filling the trophy cabinets?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course you can blame the manager he left his two best full backs at home. Would Klopp leave Robertson and TAA at home for a CL match?
He has run out of excuses. He is out of his depth at this level.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn’t see the game as was at football training myself.
But out of his depth at this level? PL and CL level where he’s taken teams to the final, and to 2nd, 3rd, 4th place? That’s an inaccurate comment.
I think the current issue is in-game management; conceding early, conceding first or, as per the Arsenal match and so it seems tonight - conceding just before HT. 2-0 at HT is very very different to conceding late on and going in 2-1. It gave Arsenal a massive confidence boost, and it probably gave Olympiakos one tonight. If you’re 2-0 up you have to go in 2-0 up. Whether it’s Poch, or senior players - leaders like Verts, Rose, Toby, Hugo on the pitch. They should all be ensuring the game is managed better in-field. The one thing we’ve alas lacked under Poch is a true authority figure on the pitch that has a ruthless enough mentality to ensure this type of sheite doesn’t happen. As I don’t mean a Keane or Viera, that’s lazy cliche - but I could point to a James Milner or a Mark Noble even, who forgetting talent at least has a bit of generalship.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ace, if it happened just now and again, fine. I could live with that. But this sort of throwing away games has happened so many times under Poch, something has to give sooner or later.
He should be motivating from the line, and he clearly is not. So many goals gifted to the opposition. So many big games lost under Poch. For a start tonight, he should have had both Aurier and Rose playing as fullbacks. Total nonsense leaving them at home. Big, big mistake. Son was on fire at the weekend, and he benches him. He is making so many elementary bad team selections every game. Five changes from Saturdays game is as poor as it gets, he didn`t need to make any changes. Just play an unchanged side. Not rocket science.

If ManCity and the top teams cleared the lines every time They had the ball on the edge of their penalty box then these top teams would be no better than teams in Div 2.
Not many top teams in the prem just lump it when under pressure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well there is sensible playing out from the back and their is stupidity playing out from the back. Eriksen though needlessly lost the ball in a dangerous position, as did Rose they other week. Both proved fatal and effectively cost Spurs two wins. The manager is obviously not rollicking them, otherwise it would not happening.
Hoof the ball long, go all out for the league cup.
Sandy dreams it was 1999 again.
What dinosaur manager would you like to implement your style Sandy? Allardyce? Maybe we could poach Sean Dyche from Burnley?

One comment on today's match in Athens .......
The new goal kick rule seems to have had a bad effect on Spurs strategy. Now they can (and do) spend even more time playing patty-foot ball in front of goal. Dangerously so!
All this endless "possession keep ball" is quite ridiculous and boring to watch. And simply gives the opposition time to get into their defensive positions.
By contrast,... their goal came from a direct pass and race down field which left Davies and Sanchez et all out of position and Lloris helpless.
And Olympiacos looked far more likely to score whenever they got the ball.
Now if this is a Pochettino strategy then ....I'm beginning to come round to Sandy's way of thinking.
Hi Sandy, hope you had a nice summer.
I can't believe your comments are for real and aren't just taking the p*ss though. How can you say Poch's out of his depth? Didn't he just lead your lot to your best ever result in the European Cup/CL (by some margin), and hasn't he had you finishing higher in the league - if not outright, at least consistency-wise - than you had done in like 60 years?
Has he already used up all that credit, or hadn't he earned any in your eyes to begin with?
"How can you say Poch's out of his depth? Didn't he just lead your lot to your best ever result in the European Cup/CL (by some margin)"
No, actually he didn't. Lucas Moura did. Single handedly. Poch actually had no influence one iota in that particular matter. And be getting to the CL Final we arrived there by a FINE margin actually. Hairline fine.

Nonsense to say the manager had any input into Spurs effort to get to the CL final. Had not Inter conceded a late equalizer at home in the last game if the group stage, Spurs would not have even made it out of the group. Then there was the late VAR goal chalked off at City, then Moura scoring a late winner in the semi. All three of those things happened to conspire to Spurs reaching the final, not the manager, who had zero impact in any of those three things occurring.

Not to mention Llorentes handball.
as i have said over and over again. the number 1 thing that prevents spurs winning anything or achieving our potential is in game management. has been for years and it is still as awful as it was in the 90s. we just have better players now.
as for poch's team selection. sanchez at RB again just points to either him being very stubborn, which is annoying, or him being incompetent, which is alarming
