Genuinely find it hilarious when Brits scorn others for not being able to speak English

Those Brits who move to Spain and don't learn a single word of Spanish are the worst.

But before Emery took over there were concerns about his English and if it's not much improved in over a year then that's highly unprofessional and worrying

So you suggest Emery communicates in Spanish that would be hilarious.

He should do what Bielsa does and get a interpreter.

no wonder we cannot string more than five passes together

Because the managers English is a bit ropey? Not sure I see the link between passing a ball and the language a manager speaks

As a "Brit" who speaks several languages I find it completely unacceptable how bad Emery's level of English is after all his time. He needs to get some intensive lessons in or work through a skilled interpreter.

Doesn't he speak English? I just thought he had a really bizarre accent. I can understand nor being able to understand that.

This rubbish about his English is laughable. He has a strong accent and may struggle with odd words/dialect in press conferences etc. But his English is more than good enough to communicate player instructions.

Player making excuses and Xenophobic haters using it as another stick to beat Emery with.

His English grammar is okay, but he isn't particularly fluent and listening to him takes effort. Don't know why he simply doesn't use an interpreter. Pochettino spoke far better English than Emery when he was in Southampton, but still used interpreters at the time.

His press conferences are a joke containing no insight whatsoever. Interviewers just give up after two questions because he doesn’t make any sense. He needs to use an interpreter but that isn’t the main reason why we are poor but it has to be a contributing factor. Both his grammar and vocabulary are very poor. It’s not even gcse standard.

I think he wanted to prove a point by speaking English from the start. His vocabulary isn't that bad, he's put the effort in imo just sounds as though it's not easy for him and his accent sounds odd

He's proving the point that after 18 months his English is terrible. If he had been taking lessons every day he would be fluent by now.

Sammy, speaking as someone who moved to Germany, it really isn't as easy as that. If you speak several languages, you probably got your second quite early in your life. If you don't, it's very hard to learn for most

The difficulty of learning a language is pretty irrelevant. A qualification of being a top level manager in England is to either speak good enough English yourself or have a great system with your interpreter (and long term only the first makes sense).

Forgetting Emery (this is just a general fact), if you can't do either of the above then you're not qualified to manage at this level in this country.

That is a fairer argument than Sammy's, Scruttocks.
