Nev,

Not dismissing it at all. I’m saying I don’t personally have any inside knowledge on how good, or bad, Rudkin is at his job.

As I said, all I do know is that he’s been a consistent presence during an incredibly positive period in our team’s history.

I have it on record from a very reliable source, who we’ll just call ‘Mr P’, that Rudkin is the second biggest reason for our prolonged period of amazing success after the amazing Nigel Pearson.

I still can’t figure out why we are trying to credit Rudkin for good signingsit’s not even his job
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He plays a key role. Scouts can identify talent but only Rudkin decides whether we should invest in them or or not.

Some might say he has the most important role.

Ahhhhhhh I can’t keep this up. I actually think Rudkin has been pretty weak at negotiating “great” deals but he’s at least invested in quality that has increased in value as opposed to the terrible investments of Slimani etc.

Although he did manage to get his money back for Miss. how on earth did he manage that?!

Glad you corrected yourself there Mersey a su was about to rain down fire and fury (not really)! He has a head of recruitment in Lee Congerton and ultimately Congerton makes the final recommendation to Rudkin to get his chequebook out - that’s according to the way it’s worked in the past. May have changed but doubtful

Depends what you mean by transfers. Identifying? Scouting? Planning? Signing? Money paid? Wages? Contract renewals? The club has staff members in situ to cover various areas

And? They all used to report into Terry Robinson before Rudkin. It doesn’t mean Terry Robinson took the credit for us signing Mahrez and Vardy when we were in the championship. The club had a head of recruitment who built our scouting team (which is still in use today) from the ground up using statistical analysis which identified the best talent across Europe.

You think Rudkin or Robinson did all that? They are primarily there to negotiate contracts, conduct transfer negotiations and make recommendations on new managers.
