What a load of rubbish. There was nothing racist in what he said to a friend. It is absolute tripe and this drivel about Sterling is horsesh!t too. The lad has said exactly what most of us feel. It was two friends having a joke with each other.

I don't think for one second Silva is or means to be racist but what he did publicly was wrong and he needs to understand that his actions have consequences and idiots will use it as ammunition to be racist themselves.

On the scale of racist things that exist it's low down but that doesn't mean it shouldn't go unpunished.

Don't really think City/Pep helped themselves either by constantly defending him instead of simply saying he was naive, didn't realise the consequences of his actions and it will be dealt with internally.

Sterling has to answer the question.

Aww you worried your beloved Man City will win it instead

Utd fans on this platform are the biggest embarrassment going. Pathetic excuse of a football fan. Its only taken 7 games and they all have their City tops on again

He could have just said I can't answer this question right now as FA are investigating

Why did Sterling defend him? Baffling.

"Just because it did not offend Sterling it does not mean it did not offend someone else."

And just because it offended someone doesn't mean it was racist.
---------------------

I think that the word racist is hugely misunderstood by many people. There was no intent of racism whatsoever by Silva. At the very worst he has been naive to share it on a public forum, but it wasn't even remotely motivated by racism. If a man get have a joke at a friend's expense by likening him to a character that is out in the public domain, what is the world coming to?

Its not baffling at all. There is no racism in what Silva did.

I think silva made it worse by sending the tweet about how you can not make a joke now days. I dont think he is racist per se but needs to realise it can be taken offence by people.

Aye he’s a million miles away from Suarez or Terry. Probably get a 1 game ban going of Terrys a few years back, hopefully then he can forget about it seemed to really affect him yesterday.

I highly doubt Silva had any racists intentions but he compared Mendy to a character that had heavily stereotypical features, you can't really do that in today's society.

Mendy took no offence because it was a joke between two friends but doing it publicly was always dumb.

Doubt the comparison is appropriate here. LFC got their graphics department to design a ti-shirt, sent it to the printers, wore them at an official PL match and made themselves look like teats

Why shouldn’t he? Should sterling lie about how he thinks about his mate so that he can appease anti racism groups:

Where do we draw the line. So he must now lie so that he doesn’t hurt Liverpool fans feelings?

The Sterling bashing is daft.

Will the City players wear T shirts and back an alleged “racist” like the Liverpool players did?

Hopefully Bernardo gets a long ban.

This is probably going to end up being another story where the anti-snowflake brigade get more riled up than the people who are offended by it.

Racism stories and lying goes well. Look at Evra when he lied and changed his story but that was all brushed under the carpet as it was the utd board doing the dodgy decision making in a hotel room.

At least Silva will get a fair trial now that the FAUtd is no longer.
