Quite enjoyable. Bit slow in first half but the story in that part is interesting. Quite well executed. Also very colourful.
Was amazing
I’d have it as one of the best I’ve watched
It was so deep as well and a lot of people wouldn’t understand
I watched it last night and really enjoyed it. The pacing of it was quite slow but I think it was paced well to dive deep into the character. I don't think he'll be as popular as Ledger's Joker as I think more people will prefer Dark Knight as a film. This was a brilliant performance from Phoenix and I can't understand why there's quite a few negative reviews about it.
You get what you facking deserve!
It will be a classic in a few years time when people look back.
Its mainly the marvel fangirls crying over a successful dc movie

"I really hope they make a sequel or two"
I really hope they don't, it needs to end there and left well alone.

I agree. This works well as a stand alone film.
They could of course do a back story Penguin film instead of a sequel to Joker!
Not only was the story superb but the craft of the film was second to none. Seriously, if you go back for a Second viewing, take note of the cinematography and use of editing and sound. It really is a masterpiece and I’ll be very surprised if it doesn’t pick up a few big awards.
I always like to dish out the odd 10/10 every year and this one makes the grade.

Agreed, a standalone Penguin film in the same mould would be brilliant.
Very good. In terms of tone, pacing and it's social commentary elements it's modernized Taxi Driver in a nutshell (even has the 'incites violence' critics Taxi Driver had at the time of release).
The only problem I had with it are personal when it comes to my interpretation of the Joker character, made more irritating by the fact the film didn't really need to revolve around that character to make it's point. The fact he never came across as smart, which is integral IMO, irked me.

Yeah it's hard to imagine him becoming the Joker we know as the mastermind villain to Batman.
You could also say though, that we were never lead to believe he wasn't smart either?

True, the person I watched it with rightfully pointed out he spent the entire film drugged up but it still frustrated me. I didn't need much, just a little hint of the characters intelligence somewhere but it just wasn't present.
In that regard it could use a sequel. Something to bridge the gap between this character and the one you'd become Batman's nemesis.
I was also disappointed with the joker we got at the end of the movie, even though I thoroughly enjoyed the build up and Joaquin's performance - he never really shed himself of the meekness imo even after he embraced the darkness.
Also surprised that people are talking about how deep the film is because I felt like it was intentionally very vague about its messaging and if anything didn't say anything at all. In general I thought the incredible score and cinematography were let down by the writing which is a shame.
There's a few other things to complain about too but It's definitely a *good* movie, I'm just struggling to see it as a masterpiece

Very well made, it was a difficult watch in a great way.
Not on the level of Nolans Batman trilogy imo however the acting from Phoenix is second to none and really makes the film.
Who would you want to play Penguin in an original story though? Cillian murphy would've had a great face for it but he's already been in a couple batman movies.
