On current form and trajectory he's definitely in that bracket.
Its the downside of him playing so well for us.
Risk you take with loans - it's happened before; Bartley was a classic case.
No chance he’s worth that.
We just sold Jansson for less than 1/4 of that and he’s a better player.
Appreciate he’s younger and English but 20 is a joke.
How much do Brighton owe us for making him a better player ?.
Player values are getting ridiculous now. Mind you if Maguire is worth 80 mil I suppose White must be worth a quarter of that and Pontus 5% of it!
Pontus isn't a better player either based on what I've seen
Well, we paid 15 million for costa so why wouldn’t Brighton want 20 for a player who is a starter and currently one of the best in the league.
Suppose it’s what the structure of the deal is. If someone told me it was up to 20 million with payments defending on promotion and appearances then I’d be all for it

You make a very good point actually
This inflation in player prices is completely ridiculous today but I have to agree with Kamara, he's worth it if that's the way things are going. He's certainly stepped up to the plate for us.
If we got promoted I'd snap their hands off at 20m

Based on 10 games, where he’s played well, in the second division?
20million is a ludicrous fee.
Anyone who thinks we should pay £20m for a player, who’s only play 10 games in the champ, wants their head testing.
Yes I rate him but come on
Buy early to avoid disappointment.
Daniel James.
Prem teams can pay this type of money on a punt. It trickles down to lower divisions which cause clubs to buy players based on potential sometimes. Prices are just a function of the market and the last few prices paid.

I’m not sure anyone is saying that.
But let’s say he keeps playing as he does between now and the end of the season.
He would easily be in the running for both team of the year and our player of the year.
We then go up.
Would you rather risk we spend the money on someone else or would you prefer we kept the player we know has the quality and works great in our system.
Cause I don’t think I’d personally think we should pay 20 up front, but if it was a deal rising to 20 mill I’d be all for it
20 is double what I’d look at paying, and that’s if he continues to improve and we go up.
He’s no better than Jansson, if anything I’d say he’s yet to match him. Jansson was immense under Monk and almost won us some games on his own.
People forget very quickly, he was an outstanding player and we have messed up by selling him.

He forced the club's hand with his conduct.
Perhaps we need to start discussing Alan Smith again?
Hmm maybe so.
Don’t agree with them on that front.
Would you agree to a deal that could rise to 20 million?
I really like the player, and would love to sign him on a permanent.
But at this moment in time, £5m upfront, with add ons to £10m.
I’ve seen tonnes of players at Leeds who start well, and end up doing nothing.
I don’t think this kid is one, but you never know
What about if he continues this form throughout the full season and we win promotion? What would you pay then?
I would go up to £15mill in those circumstances. What did Villa pay for Mings?

I'm not sure many people are saying he's worth £20m but market forces dictate. Plenty of players move for over inflated fees as well we know although that never seems to be the case when Leeds United sell.....!
Maguire certainly did not look £80m against Newcastle United.
It is what it is. White looks like a good prospect and has settled in well at Bielsa's Leeds in spite of his "lack of experience". He's evolving well in a pressurised environment.
He's Brighton's player and I suspect interest outside of Leeds United is building steadily. Go back to your comments on betting odds, don't necessarily represent the true potential, they reflect the interest.
Did anyone think McBurnie was a £20m player?
Not so long ago people thought Phillips was a £2.50 player, not the £!5-20m reportedly being offered.
He looks a great prospect. Very assured, reads the game. Not saying he will make a £20m player, but if he keeps going the way he is and gets even better with age - then who knows?
The reason why Maguire is £80million is not because he is 4 or 5 times the player of White. But because he has been seen doing against the best players in the world, thus reducing the risk in the signing massively. White has shown a lot of ability but has never had the chance to prove it against the very best. That means there's a risk that he might not make the step up. Negating risk is the most expensive commodity in business. The same can be said for so many players.
