not a magician bad bunch of players especially with 6 out, and due to the last 6 years of bad management and lack of continuity...

Didn't he win about 15 of his first 17 games?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sometimes that counts and sometimes it doesn't.

He's only been manager for 8 games for example.

8 games

Yes he did, if you are saying he is no good, then it was soley the players deciding to play to play then post JM. Now they are deciding not to play, although we are overlooking the 4-0 against Chelsea, where again it must have just been that the players wanted to turn up for 1 game. it cant have been the manager can it!? or the 6 injuries we have 6 injuries I repeat.

Robbing, not lining you up for a dig here (the opposite actually), but do you generally go to games at Anfield?

no worse no better, I love him but he is a squad player at best in a top united team.

That Chelsea game was ridiculous we were the better side for most of that...and had a brainfart period shipping 4....quite ridiculous

United got the breaks in the game. If I remember right. After scoring the penalty they sat back and countered. Their second goal came from a foul on Abraham and counter. Chelsea then pushed everything forward which played into their hands as they were able to counter, well I may add, at pace and pick you off.

Was a crazy game. I thought Chelsea edged it but lost 4-0. It happened to us at Barcelona last season. I felt we edged the game but we lost 3-0.

Merseyside humour there

Ole has bought (only 3) players with pace, young, british. He wants us to be a counter attack team. but is now having to play mata who doesn't fit in. should only be a squad player. Now... there may be some truth in saying he should mix up the tactics and needs a change but I still feel it is a drop in the ocean I repeat no one is making young or fred players, amongst others.

posted on 8/10/19

Just so I am clear are you saying that Ole has set up a system that does not suit the players?

Either way he demonstrably cannot organise a defence and I can't see any excuse for that when Utd aren't scoring goals, or even creating chances.

Going on like Utd have 25 players who have never played at international level is wearing a bit thin on credibility btw,

Robbing Hoody - tell me I can't and I'll show you I can (U6374)

Not sure if you missed my question above, but do you typically go to games at Anfield?

Not many these days. Maybe 3 a year and a couple of away games tops. Used to go regularly but kids ruin everything.

haha - they do indeed.

Just curious to know why you're so confident to comment on Ole's management - specifically about how parts of the team are set up.

I find it incredibly hard to make this judgement when I'm not going to games compared with when I am.

My personal view is that the defence is suffering badly because of the central midfield in front of it. They're exposed, and I think it's really difficult to assess Ole's set up in this state.

That sounds like an excuse and to some degree it is, but still... I have spent years sat at OT watching quality central midfielders make centre halves look so much better than they seem with a lesser player in front of them.

That midfield is no worse than Palace's or Bournemouth's. The defence is vastly better on paper.

People can dress it up and spin it how they like, 5 wins in 20 is appalling.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

We've conceded 5 less goals than Bournemouth - they've conceded over 50% less.

We currently have the joint 4th lowest goals conceded across the league, don't we?

I'm not trying to spin anything - was just discussing it with you. I really don't believe you've seen enough of United to start stating that Ole can't set up a defence.

Attackers suffering due to poor Midfield too. Defense was bad last year, think we are stronger there. Buold from the back. Next up an all new shiney midfield cant wait!

The only issue I have with Ole is hsi failure to get the best out of what he has available. That'll be his undoing. I think his signings and targets have seemed sound as has his release of players that most fans wanted released. The issue was replacing them but I'm certain he didn't want a squad this thin so that's on the people above him.

I suspect he's doing some work behind the scenes as well (work that a DoF should be doing in reality) and that uses too much of his time as he isn't good enough to do everything. If he concentrated on playing matters, set us up to play to our strengths and gets us to play with more intensity there's still no reason why we can't be in the top 4 shake up at the end of the season. Lot of 'ifs' there though.

Funnily enough, as much as it could be a disaster, a game against Liverpool could be the ideal one to return from after the international break. The fans will be very supportive and if we could get a win (or a decent performance even) then that could be the confidence boost that's needed.

Excuses will be less with the injured players all back, and I concede an upturn will be desired.
