Fergie also nearly got us relegated before we won anything.

Comparing Ole to SAF 🙄

Comparing a Manchester United manager that (some) fans wanted out, to a Manchester United manager that (some) fans want out.

Indeed, how silly of me!

I am not comparing OGS 2019 to SAF 2019.

I am comparing OGS 2019 to SAF 1989

Imagine somebody telling those fans with the "ta ra" banner that this manager would deliver once given time.

They would have laughed and told us we were being stupid. Doing it with Molde, oops i mean Aberdeen is one thing, but this is too big for him, is what they would have said.

They would, of course, be proven wrong in time.

Why don’t you compare Marco Silva 2019 to SAF 1989?

If a manager isn’t good enough it doesn’t mean that if they magically got more time it would all end up well.

Going with Robb's "love one, hate one" routine, he's most likely was a Fergie Out type.

posted on 8/10/19

I agree. He should be given 27 years just like Fergie though, only fair way to compare the two.

We need to give someone time who almost gets us relegated when they take over so that we are most likely to get the next Ferige. Jose got us to second place which is no where near relegation, so he wasn’t right long term. Moyes got us to 7th which is closer to relegation so he should have got more time. If Solksjaer can get us 17th then he is most likely to be the next Fergie for me and deserves a long contract.

You’re so wrong it’s funny

Had we gotten Poch or someone like that after Jose I’d have been very much a fan. Unfortunately we chose one of the worst possible candidates - and now it’s coming home to roost

He was, he forever bemoaned out midfield and style of play towards the end.

At least Robb will support the next man. Whether it's Guardiola or Steve Bruce, the pendulum is infinite.

Fergie won a European trophy beating Madrid with Aberdeen.

Not in the same league

We came 11th, 12th & 13th under Fergie.

We also (thanks to patience and sticking with him until he could rebuild the whole club) won two doubles in three years (so close to three in three) then won the Treble, not to mention finally overtaking the seemingly impossible 18 titles.

In fairness to robb he was behind fergie (blindly)

He still managed to be wrong tho as he would do daily articles about how those of us who complained about lack of investment and the state of the midfield were wrong and didn't understand football... And we wouldn't suffer in the long run with not replacing giggs and scholes etc

Where we are now started a long time ago... During Fergies last few seasons... He was just that good he somehow kept dragging us to the top despite the squad weaknesses... The man was a force of nature, irreplaceable

If there was some signs that Ole is trying to implement a style of football, fair enough give Ole time but I don't see no progress at all, every week we are getting worse. Lampard and Rogers have a playing style in a few months, when Klopp wasn't doing to well when he first joined Pool, you can see what he was trying to do, and stuck with it. Ole, he's even more negative than Mourinho. But even then sacking a manager ain't gonna make no difference as long as we have an incompetent board, it'll be the same old.

Yeah, without doubt.
Top flight football (as an industry) is totally different now and I understand that, but SAFs last words to us as manager were to "stick with the new manager" and we didn't listen.

Chopping and changing hasn't worked, maybe it's finally time to listen?

This.

But it is not just fans though. Professional football has changed and we need to accept it. Sponsorship deals will be defined and structured around trophies and league position.
Players contract's also have bonuses based arround achievement.
Fans have became impatient but so has the entire football structure.

The main difference between now and then is that player power is much bigger. Back when SAF took over he had to destroy a drinking culture that was a cancer in the club and he had to be a baassstard to do so. And most importantly he had the backing of the owners to do so and not risk a player revolt

We’re already getting leaks from people at the club and Ole must surely know if he tries to be a cant the players will get rid of him like they got rid of the rest.

We need a tough manager that the players respect and who will give them faith in his methods and have the ability to inspire them rather than the apathy that is in the side right now
