Hilarious to compare a guy who had just won:

St Mirren

Scottish First Division: 1976–77

Aberdeen

Scottish Premier Division: 1979–80, 1983–84, 1984–85
Scottish Cup: 1981–82, 1982–83, 1983–84, 1985–86
Scottish League Cup: 1985–86
Drybrough Cup: 1980
European Cup Winners' Cup: 1982–83
European Super Cup: 1983

......With Ole

Molde

Tippeligaen: 2011, 2012
Norwegian Football Cup: 2013
-----------------------

SAF won 4 trophies in hist first 8 years in management. Ole has won 3.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So what? He won some trophies in Norway which is equivalent to maybe conference football?

Fergie before joining United had taken Aberdeen to three league titles (beating powerhouses of that era Rangers and Celtic) and won the facking European Cup Winners' Cup + European Super Cup with them

Are you actually mental?
-----------------------

Just pointing out that your method of comparing what one manager won in his first 12 years of management against what another has won in his first 8 years of management is flawed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes but SAF proved himself in a relevant league before taking over a United side that hadn’t really done a whole lot for 20 years so that was a natural appointment

Ole however had failed his audition at Cardiff for a bigger job and was tasked with doing something he had no real relevant experience in
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That doesn't alter the fact that Scrotesacks method was flawed Robb, which was the point I was making.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How the fack is it flawed?

I posted what each manager had acheived prior to their appointments at United (even being kind to OGS and leaving out the fact he failed badly at Cardiff as I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt for that one).

You started blabbing on about their first few years of management for some reason
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The point being back in 1982 (at the same stage in his career as Ole), had SAF been given the job at OT, you would probably have argued that he wasn't ready for the job. Only the hindsight of knowing what he then won after 1982 skews the comparison hugely in his favour.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

😂

That is such a weird way of thinking

What if that 4 year period between 1982-1986 was what made SAF better for the job to come at United

You’re basically saying what we all know - that Ole without that extra time to hone his craft isn’t ready for this job

If only Ed had listened to fans like me and not appointed a manger until the end of the season.
-------------------

I think that is was pushed on his somewhat by the fact Molde were due to start the new season and had to appoint a new manager. Had Ole not gone back for the start of the season it would have been obvious that he was not returning and then there would have been constant questions and a bit of a media circus around it all.

I am not saying that at all Robb. The point is quite simple. I am just saying that it is flawed to compare the success of one manager against another manager using a timeframe that is 50% bigger again.

This was indeed a relevant fact at the time that United had to consider...

But I still suspect that as Ed is proven prized weapon, he just couldn't help himself and would still have appointed Ole after his initial run of games...

It’s only relevant if given that extra 50% Ole would have definitely won more trophies

Besides, the Scottish trophies were a lot note relevant to what United needed than Ole’s Norwegian ones as it was closer to the level that SAF would manage

Bit of a lazy simplistic comparison, you could literally compare any manager who's doing sh-t and possibly close to losing their job but it wouldn't make the comparison a good one, especially considering how much football has changes in 30 years.

Ole deserves time, he did the moment the club gave him the job full time but the way he's going about it doesn't suggest he'll be here much longer.

Ole has a fairly decent record with Molde but it doesn't compare to Ferguson breaking up the Glasgow monopoly of the Scottish league and beating Real Madrid in a European final.

I'm not playing down SAFs success at Aberdeen. He did an excellent job. In the same breath, Molde hadnt won a league title in their 100 year history. Ole won 2 titles with them, and has finished 2nd with them twice. The squad he has left behind is again top of the league this season.

I wasn't really aiming that at you, just the general idea of comparing the 2. Obviously we don't know what Ole will achieve in the future but personally I don't think his achievements so far compare, however good his time at Molde was.

I agree. He should be given 27 years just like Fergie though, only fair way to compare the two.

Wonder how Spurs will do in that time...
