Just seen elsewhere that Osinhem, apparently Pepes replacement and signed for £10m, has 7 in 9 for Lille.

In fact looking at thrir past transfers they do some good business.

Well if he's not signing for United, he's being sacked by Lille.

Why do we need a DOF when we have an accountant in charge of our footballing matters? Think before you publish silly articles.

Stop wasting time Martial.

Unless he's better than Ed, and this doesn't tell me he is, keep your articles to yourself FFS!

well, we can all trust Ed to make that decision

Why would Ed hire a sporting director. I mean, he's only failed for 6 years, needs more time to get it right, he knows what he's doing. We'll win the Championship next year.

He’s the reason Monaco won the league a few years ago.

Maybe the French league is rubbish and any above average winger looks better than they really are?

Im not sure the French is rubbish anymore.

He sounds perfect, which means we'll never get him. We'll always be riddled with bad luck with the farts that run this club.

posted on 9/10/19

I’m not sure he does sound perfect. He’s operating in a completely different market, with different goals in structurally different clubs to what he would do at United.

We obviously need a director of football. But it’s difficult to really assess what ones are the best fit given there are few clubs that operate like we do.

Looking at his track record though Daz, he's uncovered some real gems.

At least he knows the sport, which is a start.

posted on 9/10/19

That doesn’t mean much to Manchester United. Peoole obsess over our inability to find gems. But that’s because the biggest, and richest, clubs aren’t in the habit of searching for them - despite having the best scouting networks in the world. How many duds do you need to sign before a gem is unearthed?

Look at the huge amount or incomings and outgoings at the clubs he’s worked out. No top club in the premier league, or in Europe, really operate in that same way. We’ve already got issues with player turnover, so a director of football that doesn’t have much experience with concentrating vast sums of money on a select few players isn’t what I’d describe as perfect - it’s not his expertise.

This is an excellent point, of course.

Sounds sensible and good background.

One final question for him:

1) What are your thoughts on paying £80m for Harry Haguire?

Does the idiot RDD feel the need for a 'Sporting Director'?

This is the more pertinent question.

Bringing in a man that has helped Lille make millions for their owners from player sales.

Is this a move forward or a way for the Glazers to make up the income loss from no CL footy
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There’s not really a lot of indication that we’ll appoint this person to a role at the club. But even then, I’m not sure it has anything to do with making up for losses in CL revenue given the time it usually takes for large profits to be made on players.

The Glazers need the United brand and share price to be high. Playing in the CL does this - which is why we usually spend more money when out of the CL - making money for themselves off of player trading has never been their modus operandi.

Good point. Very good point.

Not to say he couldn't grow into it, however.

Would be worth looking into how much they've spent on players through the years.
