Realistically can anyone really see us going to Sheffield a week on Monday and getting 3 point?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I swear, it's almost as if the Arsenal fanbase has all their collective memories wiped every 2 weeks.
Our League form away from home has been absolute shyyte for what is now almost 3 seasons on the bounce.
We've changed the manager. Pretty much changed the entire squad. And we're still shyyte.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have we? Last season and this season we are still relying on Xhaka in central midfield. Thats the key position for dictating tempo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nice to see that we're finally running out of scapegoats, thanks to our massively revamped side.
Looks like we'll have to dump all our collective frustrations on Xhaka by default, right?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or how about slow build up play in the spine of the team cost Wenger his job and may end up doing the same for Emery?
What matters in football are the results, not the style of play. If we win silverware playing the sheettest football under the sun, I am happy. Emery is rebuilding the squad, bringing up a good number of exciting youngsters, and so far it's bearing fruit. Whoever expected us to be 3rd one point behind City at this stage? Most people were predicting bottom 10. Even the crowd attendances at the Emirates have clearly improved from a low of around 30,000 to 40,000 a few seasons ago. Our only loss was away to Liverpool who are beating everybody.

What title winning league form? We haven't played fluid football since Santi injured his leg.
We seem to be having 2 separate conversations here, J99.
Like someone else said before, I'm simply talking about points on the board.
As for your point about fluid football, I don't think we've had anything close to it for more than 10 years.
Fluid football needs players who move both with and without the ball. We've signed nothing but Pirlo wannabes for more than a decade now.

It's clear to see that Emery is a Negative manager but his style of football at arsenal is not attacking or fluid and is definitely not a style that symbolises defencive solidarity.
It's a bit all over the place, a style that isn't going to consistently win matches

It's always typical of a team in transition. There are so many changes taking place in the team, including the style of play. We are one of only two teams in England to lose less than 2 matches in all competitions so far. If the football is so awful, how have we got to where we are, why are we not losing games every week? Clearly your analysis is not making sense and is definitely not supported by the facts and statistics. The table doesn't lie. As I already said, I don't give a rat's rear how we win, as long as we win, because that's what football is all about.

Mate have you not been watching the matches? Did you not see the second half against Watford or the home games where we are being outplayed by teams like Villa.
It's only 8 games. Like I said, Palace and Leicester are 1 point behind us. If we lose to Sheffield on Monday we will drop to 8th or something.
This style of football isn't sustainable. The same way that lucky winning steak last season was only papering over cracks and eventually we got found out.
This isn't a Mourinho type team of 5 or 6 years ago that was efficient and won't matches playing ugly. If it was, I would also take that. Our last games against Bournemouth was the only example of this.
However , in Emery reign at arsenal, nothing has suggested to me he knows how to set up to shut out teams.

That's why I said let's wait till the end of the season. No point arguing about this, it's a silly waste of my time.
Pray he gets top 4, then get rid, if the contract allows it
Find it silly people always quote Fergie getting time at United to justify keeping any old manager on... Fergie was the greatest manager of all time, a total one off. All these other chumps are nothing like him. It's like people deciding not to work because they're "going to" win the lottery.
Then there's talk of Klopp finishing 8th in his first season. He came part way through that season.
Emery should get this season to show some sort of quality football, a long term approach that can deliver real results (rather than simply grinding out top four because our oppenents are awful).
If not we move on
I’m not too bothered about style of play at Arsenal during this stage. I don’t think Emery will be here any longer than end of next season, I don’t believe he was seen as a guy be here long term. If he doesn’t get us top 4 he will be gone. So I’m hoping he just gets us there playing whatever football achieves that. Even if he gets top 4, there’s a chance we’ll look else where, or we’ll have maximum of 1 year left of him and his football, so I’m not too concerned with us playing crap if it gets us where we need to be
However I am concerned that what we’re doing now is not sustainable, and is not good enough for top 4 over a season. He’ll need to start getting some kind of consistent style that the players understand whatever that may be. One this is certain is we can’t keep having a messy defence and chaotic games. He has showed signs recently that we’ve got slightly better at that.
If he gets us top 4 winning 1-0 and not playing attractive football, then I’ll be happy for now. Emery won’t be a manager we’ll have for long either way. We have a good run of 9 games. He has a lot to prove now, he’s getting players back, so there’s not much excuse for us not to be in a good position after these games
