I don't think there should be outrage. He was fouled and went down. If he doesnt go down he doesnt get a penalty.
Contact made .....nough said.

Same with Mane last week. There was contact made and he went down. There was outrage about it at the time.

Not sure why Mane decided to roll around in agony when he was hardly touched.
Cheating for me!

100% a penalty. If he doesn't go down he doesn't get it and the defender gets away with foul play.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Does that justify Sterling delaying his reaction to the contact for about a second, before theatrically throwing himself backwards like he'd been caught by a sniper?
I think it is just easier to say "dive" than 'playacting' which is what Mane and Sterling did. Both cheats.
How many pens have england had in recent times? Seems like one a game, so diving is clearly working..
I only saw it from the other angle which was on tv which looked a clear pen.
However the angle on Twitter clearly shows sterling threw himself down.
It's a pen but no more than mane's was.
The difference is one did it for Liverpool, the other did it for England to allow Kane score again from the spot
very little difference to how Mane went down, yet everyone was all over that saying dive...
For me its a pen like Manes, you cant kick a player and get nowhere near the ball in doing so its unfair and a foul... Only way you're getting a pen is if you go down, if refs gave fouls for staying on your feet diving claims would be less of an issue.
the theatrics by both players outstanding though

Typical English media, when Sterling or Young do it, its called smart play, but when a black player like Mane goes down under soft contact its called cheating. This has to top.

It was cheating!

Sterling is black. Don’t think this is a racist thing but definitely calling Mane a cheat suits the media narrative but Sterling is the golden boy ATM.

Wooooosh
If the ref gives Mane's penalty without the player going down it would look ridiculous and there'd still be rage about the ref giving a "cheap penalty". Can't win.
Young has had stick all his career, as did Frannie Lee all those years ago, and plenty in between.
IMO nobody is entitled to go down, unless you can't help it you should stay on your feet.
It's up to the ref to give the pen or not.
Mane got kicked, went down (easily) and got a pen. it's happened many time before and many times afterwards.
I've only seen the Sterling one from one angle, so difficult to comment.
The media do love Sterling, but I don't think they applaud England players for being 'clever', and knock foreigners for 'diving'

There were a couple of occasions last season when Salah stayed on his feet and didn’t get a pen. He then got abuse the next game he fell to the floor when there was contact. You can’t win!!
