Brutal social commentary taking in mental health, child abuse and austerity, with a stunning lead performance from Phoenix.
10/10.

All the cool kids mate
Dont sh't on Hengys board
Metro loved it too
A film that crosses the political aisle, truly beautiful stuff
Was a top class film, DC have finally released a good film since the Dark Knight trilogy. Just a shame it’s a standalone one though, but I think it’s best to keep it like that.
A few questions though, Joker and Batman are relatively the same age. So why is Bruce a kid in this film whilst the Joker is about 40 odd years older than him? By the time he grows up Joker would be a pensioner.
I hated the way they portrayed Thomas Wayne as some elitist Trump like establishment figure that doesn’t give a crap about the people of Gotham. He was a sympathetic character that tried to help the vulnerable.
Tbf some of the earlier Jokers were clearly older than Batman
Problem with this Joker is you struggle to envision him as becoming a criminal mastermind
With a 30-40 year time span between them though, Blarms?
I dont think theres going to be a follow up involving Batman tbf
Yeah they always said it’s gonna be a stand-alone film. Looking forward to the Batman film next year though, I just rewatched TDKR on Now TV and it never bores me still.
It's about time the Riddler got a reboot
The reactions here are different from the ones I was given when I read reviews in the media.
Of course, I will make my own mind up but funny how the press labelled it OTT.
