You also assume though that he’s going to be effective as a central striker which at this point is too big a leap to be able to put a number next to expectations
------------------------

I'm just going on what I have seen of him Robb. He is a good finisher and your strikers tend to get more chances than your wide players. He got 10 league last season having only started 18 games and playing mainly wide. I don't think that it is a huge jump to expect that he can get approaching 20 in a season where he plays centrally, assuming he doesn't miss too much of the season through injury.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I also think his finishing ability is overstated

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well he has a better conversion rate in the PL than both Aguero and Kane, despite the fact that they are both regular penalty takers, which are obviously easy chances.

Kane - 1 goal every 5.55 shots (19 pens)
Aguero - 1 goal every 5.52 shots (26 pens)
Martial - 1 goal every 5.42 shots (2 pens)

I don't think that his finishing ability is overstated at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How many shots did they each have ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have a look on the PL website, it's all on there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cant be bothered. I'm confident that Kane and Aguero have got into far more shooting / scoring positions than Martial has.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, they average more shots per game. As they play centrally. Which is exactly my point. More chances means more goals.

Why would Martials conversion rate suddenly suffer because he is playing centrally when these chances arise? He is a good finisher. There is no logical reason that would change if he is playing centrally. You seem to have some downer on Martial and refuse to shift your attitude despite the facts at hand

Because hed have to take up positions, do.pete with CB's rather than FB's, rely on service from others rather than scoring through his own pace and skill.

I dont have a downer. Its not inevitable a wide player moving central gets more goals.

I think this is the first, and last, time I’ll say this but RDD is actually right.
