I don’t think anyone is saying Liverpool bottled it last season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But you are saying that it would be a bottle job this season ignoring that City could end up with upwards of 95 points still. If they do, would we have bottled it? We were 8 points clear with more games gone last season, and you rightly say we didn't bottle it. Now we're clear after 8 games and you say we should win it from here? You're guessing that City will struggle due to their injury/defensive issues but you don't know that...yet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know that they have struggled due to their defensive issues.
All I’m saying is that it’s Liverpool’s title to lose. All the pieces are in place, City do actually look a bit vulnerable at the moment and more likely to drop points than Liverpool. I suspect a lot of this is self protection as you don’t dare think ‘this is your year’ and that’s fine
But the smart money is on Liverpool and it would actually be a bit of a shock if they don’t win it

Man City have achieved to retain the title which is a very rare thing indeed.
No club in the EPL era has won it three times on the trot and there is good reason for this. Its extremely difficult to retain such consistent dominance. It was achieved by LFC in the 80s, Arsenal in 30s and Huddersfield in the 20s - thats it in 130 years of football history.
To therefore say that City have bottled the title "with their squad" is simplistic in the extreme. Success requires many things including motivation and luck. All the key factors need to align.
So far Liverpool have managed to align everything. Quality squad, motivated, not too many injuries, and a decent set of fixtures to get the season rolling. If this continues then you expect their results to continue but if they slip up for no other reason than the pressure and expectation of winning the title, then indeed, a massive bottle job considering the lead they have built so far. Too early to call it though - they could be crippled with injuries in January in which case some poor results might be expected.

Decent fixtures? We'll have played United, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester after our first ten games. Majority at home granted but certainly I wouldn't call them decent fixtures. City have had easier ones.

I was trying to highlight exactly the point that by the philosophy laid out in this article you could lay that point at anyone not managing to succeed at anything.
It is too simplistic of a point I agree and that's what I was trying to highlight.

I knew i'd get some defensive response like this picking up on one tiny (secondary) point in my post.
1. You havent played united yet!
2. You havent played Spurs yet!
When you have then may be City might have closed the gap but SO FAR (which is what i am judging your current position and lead on) it's been a relatively kind set of fixtures. Everyone has played 2 or 3 of the top 6, LFC have and 2 of 3 have been at home. The away one was Arsenal on day 1 when they were a shambles. Couldn't really ask for more - ok, maybe City's have been easier on paper but that's not the point here.
