Junker has ruled out another extension.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank fwck for that.

So this Benn Act achieved what other than stop us being as hard nosed as we could have been. Might have changed things. Might not. We will never know.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hold your breath on that front, loads of questions were fired at him at once, he didn't directly say that.

Also worth noting it's up to the EU27 leaders and not him.

Doubt there's the political will in the EU to carry on negotiating after this deal is inevitably rejected.

All avenues exhausted and all negotiators on both sides exhausted.

I'm sure it would suit many to split the leave vote like that?

Why not add in the other remain options to the paper to even it up. For the avoidance of doubt the majority view in the UK from a number of polls is no deal.

Read the post. Single transferrable vote doesn't split as you suggest.

As for the polls of which you speak

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-50043549

Mind you it's all academic anyway, Junker has said that an extension is out of the question. Crash and burn - sorry, no deal it is then.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
That poll has Remain at 34%, and the various Leave options at 46%, to be fair.

Almost certainly their will be.

Merkel's view is expected to be different.

Also if the deal is voted down on Saturday, do you honestly believe they are going to refuse to renegotiate and cause both us and them unnecessary suffering. Doubt it.

"If we have a deal, we have a deal, and there is no need for prolongation"

Juncker stating the obvious, that to me doesn't rule out further talks if the deal is kicked out.

A few things have changed in the last three years wouldn’t you say?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Things change all the time. The fact the vote has been thwarted for three years is the travesty I’m sure you’ll agree
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The only difference is all facts remain or leave are on the table.

GT, depends how you define facts. If you are remain they are facts but if you are leave they are fear-mongering.

But "to be fair" your assertion was that no deal had the majority view. It doesn't.

Honestly, a lot of people still don’t. Many Brexiters don’t seem to realise this current issue is just the withdrawal agreement. There’s still going to be years of negotiations post Brexit. So this ‘get on with it’, ‘clean break’ or ‘start sorting our country out’ mantra that many spout isn’t something that means anything.

posted on 17/10/19

They are now saying an extension would be granted if the deal doesnt pass.

posted on 17/10/19

They’re also saying that Johnson has refused to ask for an extension if it’s thrown out

Fuxakes. What is going on? .

I'd argue a vast number of MP's voted on the WA (for or against) not fully understanding it.

The legalese and technical content of the WA (560 odd pages) was extremely complex.

To ask 'joe public' to make a choice on such a complicated and intricate matter (IMO) is probably not a great idea.

Far too much misinformation and reliance on red top media for folk to make a reasonably informed choice either way.

Like an election you mean?

“We’ve always voted Labour”

“Why?”

“We just have”

posted on 17/10/19

Think there will be enough labour mps to vote for Johnson's deal and it will pass
