I do see your point Robb. But it doesn't cover Jose with glory either way.
A; He made poor buys.
B. He didn't so should have done better.

Your logic was sound though.

Wilson is arguably the best football writer going.

He's an absolute nerd with tactics

Is there ANY article that doesn't descend into a kick off when NOBB is about? Adds nothings to the debate, regurgitates the same chit but spins it in 50 different ways.

Fack me.

Good article btw OP. Pretty much fair assement of where most sensible fans that follow United will be aware of.

And why do people bring up money spent with Jose?

I thought the vast majority of his signings were bad. You can’t have both.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Because he spent and was given time to do something.

Ole has spent a partial amount and has had one transfer window.

This should be worrying for Jose not Ole. If we spend well in Jan and the summer I have no doubt we’ll be performing better than Mourinhos side.

When you say “if this is how Ole wants to play” what half are you referring to? I think it’s blindingly obvious Ole wants to play every game like the first half. Aggressive pressing and suffocating the opposition, our fitness dwindled on the second half and we sat back. I’m assuming because you dislike Ole you are ignoring the first half where we totally outplayed Liverpool? If not for some wasteful play by Pereira in the final 3rd we could have carved out more opportunities.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Surely that is the point... He spent lots and most of it on rubbish
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But the argument here was that he had an advantage over Ole because he had £400 million of signings

If they were rubbish how was that an advantage? 🤔
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This must be one of Robbs thickest posts!

Nobody mentioned it being an advantage apart from you

Kfcs point was Jose's judgement of players was shiiite

But you know this
----------------------------------------------------------------------

😂 No it wasn’t

Read his comment again. I said the tactics were Jose like and he said that Jose played like that with half a billion pounds worth of players and a fully fit squad (both wrong by the way) whereas Ole has been forced into playing this way because he’s inherited the worst squad ever apparently and has no fit players
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The season we finished 2nd we hardly had any injuries, we were on a role winning 4-0 and then Jose schite him self and parks the bus at Anfield. Pretty much every game after that we played a low block even against pure schite like Huddersfield and suffered a humiliating defeat in the champions league.

We're the third team to try those tactics against Liverpool with a degree of success. Unfortunately, as the article fairly states, we were outmatched man for man.

The small concern for Liverpool will be that Man City have the players to implement that system much more effectively than we could.

Game at Anfield is going to be huge. I think the winner of that game will take the title. Stones is back now. Mendy back. Cancelo looking good.

He has me filtered so as a result the match thread yesterday didn't descend into the usual farce.

Posters need to stop giving him the attention/oxygen he craves.

This board has seen a loss of content, posts and users and my own inactivity can be put down to not wanting to read the same tripe over and over from him.

it's a good analysis of the game, but to me worrying about tactics or one off performances is pointless at the moment.

we need at least 7 new, ready made first team players before we worry about the fine tuning.

we finished 6th last season and are now 13th.

we are widely being tipped to be in a relegation fight.

the defence is fine and the likes of rashford, james or mctominay are ok squad players but that is about it.

need a new midfield, new attack and a left back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
2 CM, 1 winger and a CF and the first 11 is good enough to challenge for 2nd with Spurs and Liverpool

Hippo and Nobb - but not sure about substance.

Exactly. We arent going to go down. Of it looked sliekly then the club would take action (bring in mccarthy, Redknapp or big sam)

I don't think we will be relegated but there will be times this season when we are worried. such as now. we are 2 points above the relegation zone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not worried.

If we are nearer the bottom than top 6 come Xmas I'm confident the club would take action

lots of people are. mark ogden for example.

Mark Ogden

Mark Ogden

"And with barely a quarter of the campaign gone, it would be foolish to suggest that United will find themselves locked in a battle against the drop between now and next May."

We are 2 points above the relegation zone and 3 points off 7th.

Every team from 7th and below is 3 points off the drop...

even then, finishing in midtable should be seen as an absolute disaster. some people on here think it is enough to just avoid relegation. to be even in and around relegation zone at any point in the season after the first 5 games is an absolute disaster and shows a total failure of everyone involved at the club.

for the other big clubs around the world finishing second is a disaster, for us now it seems finishing 6th is a decent season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nonsense. Nobody associated with the club thinks 6th is a decent season.

As for the key executives at the club, I really do worry that our fans think we can just go to the football executives shop and pick up 2 or 3 off the peg who will instantly find world class coach after world class coach and players that our current scouts and agents arent aware of.
