I like it and think it will be a huge success once the refs and rule makers find the right way to use it.

It's a shambles and most likely always will be.

The only thing that may change is that kids will grow up used to it, so they won't realise that the game is better without it and therefore it'll just become the norm.

Why would it always be? Everybody knows some of the decisions have been questionable, so why wouldn’t the rule makers look at how it’s applied ?

It will always be a shambles because there's so much subjectivity in most decisions.

I don’t like it. Referees seem to pull away from making any big decisions and wait for VAR to rule. Slows the game down too much.

The problem at the moment is that VAR is too scared to overturn decisions made by the ref because it will highlight just how bad the refereeing is these days...probably on orders of the FA.

Once everyone is willing to swallow their pride and move on, it will be a success.

I liked it in the world cup, where it seems to be done properly, with very defined rules and the ref making the big decisions.

PL version seems like a cop out

The worst part of VAR has to be handball.

Shambolic re-writing of the rule there.

But the opinions of qualified refs, with the benefit of replays and angles and, an opinion being applied in line with the rules of the game.

I fail to see how that is as big a shambles as just using the ref

It should be used for handballs and offsides, simple as, there 2 rules that is either yes or no, as for these fouls around the pitch it should be down to the ref and his assistants to make the call, to much scope for opinion.

Well if you can't see it for yourself then there's nothing I can say to open your eyes to it.

If I can’t see it then il just watch the replay and make a qualified decision.

Im cool thanks mate.

I think it was pulled because of the abuse Martial was throwing about, which is fine with me. I hope he learns from it.

This clear and obvious nonsense needs to go. Look at rugby where the ref basically asks the tmo if he agrees with the decision. Why can't VAR and the ref talk like that and agree together with the on pitch ref having final say if they disagree. Don't get why the refs have an issue with being re-refereed. Wasn't half the point of VAR about the stick refs were getting and a general consensus that they have a pretty difficult job?

My team are in the championship but as a premier league supporter of whoever plays Liverpool, I'm against it. Its being misused, its inconsistent and its sucking the enjoyment out of the game in regards to celebrating goals, and spoiling the result due to daft decisions made.

Chuck it in the bin and just step up retrospective action against cheats, violent conduct and poor refereeing decisions

Personally I'm not a fan, each to their own opinions however, football is not an exact science for me, controversy and debate are part of it, when a goal is scored the whole waiting about for VAR to have a look takes away a huge part of the enjoyment I take from going to/watching games.

Even after watching replays the correct call is often still too subjective for anyone to be 100% and it falls back onto an opinion, it's here to stay I feel though but it better pull it's socks up in football terms, as I said though, each to their own

I agree with you.

The fact that any hand ball by the attacker be it accidental or not and it’s blown up but be it a defender and it’s open to interpretation.

It’s silly.

Well If james milner is agin' it.

Time for an old timey feud.

Well that, and just the fact that any defender with his arm away from his body has now been deemed as having his arm in an unnatural position.

It's absurd.

The irony now is that defenders have their arms in an unnatural position i.e. holding them behind their back, when a striker is lining up to shoot.

I wouldn’t worry. It won’t be long before someone takes a sigurdsson shot to the face from 5 yards and gets a bad concussion and the handball rules change

I’d agree with that to, it’s not hard to look at them and tell if a player has intentionally handled the ball or not.
