Appointing Ole did not make sense at the time. Not even on a temporary basis. Now, retrospectively, people will say it made sense, as we were stupid enough to appoint him and he's still here. But what about giving him the job on a caretaker basis made sense? Was he unemployed at the time? No. Was he on our coaching staff at the time? No. Did he used to play for us and score at Nou Camp in 99? By God, yes. But sorry, that does not justify or give antly credence whatsoever to appointing him, even on a temporary basis
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Out of interest who would you have appointed on a temporary basis when Woodward the muppet sacked Jose
-------------

I would have appointed Blanc, and I would have done so on a permanent basis. There was no rule that said we needed to appoint a temporary manager who had no credentials to be the United boss. Appointing Ole temporarily was treading water and a stunt to get morons onside. Appointing him permanently was criminal. Still having him in the job 11 months later is beyond even that
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I've heard Blanc being mentioned before and although a decent shout with more experience than ole he too would have had to face the same dressing room and squad issues Jose left behind and as such would not have come with any greater guarantees of success when you also take into account the Woodward factor.

You do know however that the utd fans ultimately dont have a say on who gets appointed because Moyes would never have got the gig 6 years ago if that was the case

Dismissing the fan base as morons and it's not the first time you've done it you, well you are coming across as a bit of diikhid to be honest

And there we go. Another person who is happy to say that this person or that person isnt good enough but ask them who they would replace them with / appoint instead they go AWOL.

Have you ever thought that merrysupersteve doesn't sit on ja606 all day, waiting for someone to reply to his posts?
Not like you only gave him 12 minutes to reply or anything before you comment either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

RDD has no clue who would replace ole but is clamouring for his sacking
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Blanc. Oh dear. And what exactly has he done to qualify him for the job?

That's fair enough. But I think that's what Ed took the fan base for with that appointment. My opinion, you don't have to like it

And yes of course I'm aware of this. I was obviously responding to someone asking who I felt we should have appointed. On that note, I would ask (obviously knowing that you aren't actually going to appoint the manager) if Solskjaer even entered your thinking as someone who would be capable of managing our club, once Jose was sacked last year?

Calling fans morons and fans being treated like morons are two different things.

At the end of the day the fans have gotten behind every manager that's been appointed since fergie left and it was no different when ole came in.

Woodward will do what he wants with regard appointments

posted on 3/11/19

I didn't call our fanbase morons, did I? I said Ed was trying to manipulate morons in making the appointment. As you said, two different things

____________

Pretty much a sweeping statement

Who are the morons exactly ?

I do. I'm wondering why we appointed him. Was it based on his abilities as a manager? Or was it just Ed trying to manipulate morons into giving more time and lowering expectations for the man in the hotseat, thereby reducing the pressure on himself?

----------------

Another of your earlier moron remarks

posted on 3/11/19

Very much a sweeping statement, as that's exactly what Ed took the fanbase as a whole for with the appointment. Who exactly are morons? Well, who actually thinks Ole was appointed based on being the best available candidate?

posted on 3/11/19

It appears he was referring to anyone onside with the appointment of Ole ad morons.

You named one alternative, who is no better qualified for the job.

posted on 3/11/19

Well, he is better qualified. He's managed the French national team and won the French league with multiple teams. Admittedly he didn't win the Norwegian league or get Cardiff relegated, so he can't match Ole in that regard

posted on 3/11/19

Very much a sweeping statement because you obviously think theres a sizable part of the utd fanbase that are morons to actually use the term in your argument.

I repeat again the fans have no say on who gets appointed and are ultimately reliant on Woodward at the end of the day which has been the case for the last 6 years

I personally didn't think Jose was the way to go but I didn't dismiss fans as morons for getting behind him knowing the likely way it was likely going to finish up

posted on 3/11/19

He won 1 league with Boredueax before the PSG investment. And 3 titles with moneybags PSG. He has also been out of work for 3 years during which time the Barca, United, Real and Bayern jobs have come up. And he hasnt been offered one.

posted on 3/11/19

Whereas Ole was batting off interest from Barca, Real and Bayern. But he didn't play for them and didn't score for them in 99, so why would they appoint him?

Exactly. The options were few and far between, hence the club going with a fans favourite, and to be fair, it worked initially. And might have this season had we kept Lukaku or replaced his goals.
