When was the last time a keeper

Why can't Westwood play like he did yesterday against us? He made a cracking save yesterday but did 2 impressions of Felix at corners and both came to goals. We only managed 4 on target yesterday and one of those was a penalty.

True, but at the same time we have only failed to score in two of our last ten games, compared to wba and Preston who have not scored in one of their past ten.

So while we need to do better I am unsure if it’s a big an issue as some are making it out to be

Remember when we had Nigel Martyn? What a keeper he was. Best I've ever seen at Leeds. Totally Underrated by all except Leeds fans.

I was about 10/11 when Martyn was in his prime, at school, we traded merlin football stickers and I was desperate to get Martyn (Black kit with green stripes)there was no Ebay back then so I had to be patient

LIW.. I agree, I can't remember a keeper having a blinder against us for a while.

Why is it relevant though? - are you coming to a particular point?

Is it because we try to walk the ball in most times?

I said on a thread a few days ago, we're not shooting (or at least I don't believe I see us shooting) from different areas - well not on target anyway.

VOF.. I'm not sure it is to be fair mate... I'm confused as to why keepers should have blinders against us? and us alone?

Certainly not saying i'm right with that TSI ….. I hadn't thought of the situation until I saw this thread ….. just the first thought that came to me.

Felt like every match at beginning of season opposition keepers were inspired.

Who said that ?????

Point is, for all the possession and half chances.

We rarely work the opposition keeper

Or you don’t agree

Oh to be fair LIW, I agree with that, we don't work the keeper enough IMO.

Teams set up to stifle us, over and over we are playing 11 man defences, most teams know that if they stand toe to toe against us they will lose. This explains both the fact we don't score massive amounts and also that we have by far the best defensive record in the division. In those circumstances goalkeepers do not need to have blinders.
What Bielsa needs to do is work on ways to unlock resolute defences. Then we will see the opposition GK coming into play more.

Els.. difficult to disagree there to be fair mate

Els hits the nail on head!..

Have Bielsa's teams ever been so high on the scoring front?.....because they've always let a lot in!..

The team he has put together here are doing a great job with the defensive job, like Els says, other set up to stop our attack, so, in taking care of our defense their attack isn't as effective as they could be!..

Our defense is doing as much for the team as the attack is, and while that's happening we should be ok!..

Odd, but the team I watch here have also the best defense in the league but have problems with scoring, jumped from 14th to 9th after beating our friends Stuttgart on Saturday!..

Only thing with the two is Leeds have a great chance of going up, Osna are concentrating on 2nd div survival!..

Don't know the stats, but the amount of shots we have that are blocked is ridiculous.

Or that's how it seems to me.

Agree for some reason we don’t work the keeper enough, but overall I think we are a better side than last season,

Don, last season, every opposing manager said we were best team they'd played. This season, they're not saying that, so why would you say we're a better side this season?

You might well be right there Sol …. I don't stand there taking notes as such. Maybe the team are shooting, but as the OP hints, they simply aren't getting through or near the keeper to make them work harder?!?!?!?

posted on 11/11/19

But some shots that have got through have had some decent keepers making brilliant saves!..

posted on 11/11/19

Jonty- still think most managers are saying we are the team to beat, no side have had the better of us so far, West Brom has the better of the 2nd half but still didn’t create more than us, last year we were lucky against a couple of sides, this season we’ve been unlucky, I think last two games we have looked as good as ever maybe not playing the football we did at times last season, I just think we are starting to look like a proper side,

Can I just put on record how much I dislike Lee Camp with his stupid hair cut, he always seems to have a decent game against us, Derby cant.

We seem to give our opponents way too much time to set up defensively when we attack.

That said, I thought we mixed up our shot selection much better against Blackburn this past weekend.

I think it good Harrison has scored the last couple of games, people have dragged him down to often, now he's showing he can score with a couple of assists in between!..

And he makes defenses work!..
