How would everyone feel if we got relegated but reached the final of the champions league again?

Serious question
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No Thanks..... We'd just put in another powder puff performance & lose. Making the CL final was the worst thing to happen to us. It papered over so many cracks, falsely altered expectations and the reality is we didn't belong on that level & it showed... It was fun, lucky, emotional but all pretty stupid
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No doubt mate. Everyone keeps saying how great it was to be in the CL final, but for me it was just another Spurs bottle job and another disappointment for the supporters. We barely touched Liverpool who were bloody average that day and there for the taking. Rubbish performance and did nothing for us in the end. We are just another Porto, but atleast Porto actually won the thing

It really wasn’t. We bottled it and s** the bed the moment we got there. The games leading up to it were great, but it all meant nothing in the end. We won nothing as per usual:

The last minute equaliser to get to the CL final was a fantastic moment. My best moment as a Spurs fan.

Will live on longer with me than that league cup win in 08 that's for sure.

I was at the FA Cup finals in 87, 91, Uefa Cup in 84, LC in 08. Losing in 87 was by far the most crushing loss for me (way more than last year, CL games Vs Ajax & City felt like a fluke) Moura's last goal vs Ajax was fantastic but wasn't close to any of Cup wins above

Agree.

The road to the final was probably the best journey any Spurs fan has with with the club in the past 40 odd years.

Will never forget the games leading up to the final. Driving all the way to Madrid and back.
Getting smashed in the fan zone.

Great summer.

It's been all downhill from that day in Madrid.

we quite predictably didn't bother turning up in the final though. a shame, as Liverpool didn't show up either and if we had put in any kind of performance we would probably have won.

but that's what this club does isn't it... miss every opportunity for greatness that gets presented to us.

such a loser mentality at this club

posted on 11/11/19

See this is the mentality I can’t stand at Spurs. Whilst Liverpool, chelsea and United supporters talk of their best moments of winning champions leagues, titles and other trophies, us Spurs fans register best moments as that Lucas Moura goal that put us into a final we ended up losing. Yes I agree it was an amazing moment and I was running around the room screaming like a mad man, but in the end what did it mean? Another disappointment. I look back at that con and think of how that was our one and only ever chance of winning it and we blew it. We will more than likely never get to a CL final again.

We have very little say in whether we win a trophy or not..

But you carry on thinking you have a winners mentality and others have a losers mentality cos you won't be happy til we win a trophy if it makes you feel good.

More about me:

Unfortunately this member doesn't seem to have found the time to write anything by way of an introduction yet, but hopefully that will soon change.

Have you aged?
Looking a bit ropey these days?
Or you just not as passionate cos we haven't won a trophy for 11 years?

Best moment ever wever as a West Ham fan... Winning our cup final last season in a blaze of glory at the giant club Spurs' new stadium.

Best day of my life. Partied for weeks. Son was crying.

Life doesn't get better than that. It means absolutely everything to me

posted on 11/11/19

Flashy, you are getting quite boring with that long winded joke. It was funny before, but not after the 20th time you repeated it Yep, I’ll be happy when the club actually achieve something. Lucas Moura scoring a goal to put us in a final we didn’t win isn’t actually achieving anything by the way, just thought I would remind you

Give me a trophy over a meaningless goal that in the end amounted to nothing any day of the week. Seeing us lift the league cup in 1999 and 2008 against Chelsea far outweighs any goal that was scored to put us in a final we didn’t win. Complete losers mentality. Unbelievable how you prefer a moment like that over an actual trophy

20 times..

Well it is. Achieved a place in the final, but okay.

"Yep, I’ll be happy when the club actually achieve something"

Sounded like you were happy with the Moura goal, but okay.

Losing the final has nothing to do with my, or other Spurs fans' mentality btw, just thought I would remind you I had fvck all say in it.

posted on 11/11/19

That's cos you're on of life's winners mate. That 2008 league cup win was mostly down to you, I think.

posted on 11/11/19

Oh bore off. Sarcasm is the lowest for of wit by the way. I’m not saying it’s down to me, I’m just explaining to you how ridiculous you sound trying to make out a goal that put us in a final of a trophy we didn’t win, is of more importance to you than actually achieving something and winning a cup. We didn’t achieve anything. Getting to a final is not an achievement winning it is. Liverpool are the achievers, not us.

I don't think I'll ever forget how I felt when Moura stuck that last minute goal in. No singular moment in football has been better for me.

You prefer the lifting of a trophy. Whatever floats your boat.

I am with you Don, getting to the final was fine, but ultimately it was such a no show it means absolutely nothing now. Basically Ajax gifted Spurs a way to the final, after outplaying them for most of two games.

I much more remember my first 25 years of supporting Spurs where I saw them win the League, five FA Cups, three European trophies, and a couple of league cups. Each of those successes and performances was far, far better than 90 minutes of dross in Spain last May, and all are remembered very fondly by myself. I have already forgotten about the non event of the CL final.

Don, our supporters seem happy to accept mediocrity, when with our glorious past should be demanding a lot more.

Getting to the final was fine, but let`s be fair it had to be the luckiest and flukiest run to any CL final in the history of the competition. Had so much luck just to get out of the group, luck with VAR against City, and 2-0 down with 30 minutes to play in a semi-final was a fluke really Ajax let Spurs back into it. They themselves did a Spursy that night. It was an exciting run to the final, but when they got there, they produced the worse performance I suspect of any side that ever reached a major European Final. I turned off when the 2nd goal went in, and have not watched a minute of the game since.

Was the most ridiculous(ly good) Spurs moment there's ever been for me. Woodgate's winner was great. A more classic going mental moment but that Moura one was special. Even now watching it feels like a dream.

Three points nailed on for Spurs.

Shame as the West Ham manager is doing a good job to liven up the season with a relegation battle.
