Actually on second-thoughts, as crazy as it may sound...Frank may want to manage Kante' workload thus won't be able to play every match (2 games a week), to avoid injury.

Either way I'm confident Frank (+ staff) will workout the right balance.
Barkley will be the least content in the end, I suspect.

Completely forgot about Barkley

Barkley is a forgettable player.
Got to move him on soon.

I read that in the game against Palace - Kante, who was finally back from his injury layoff and presumably wasn't yet properly match fit, ran further than any other Chelsea player - 11k. And at a higher average speed. He really is a phenom. In many ways Kovacic has been playing a lot like Kante during Kante's absence - running with the ball, tackling, intercepting. And that type of player complements the brilliant technical ability that Jorginho possesses. I was a little concerned that Kante and Kovacic in tandem would lack the subtlety and technical ability that Jorginho brings to the team (not to mention the leadership) - but they totally dominated the midfield against Palace. As others have mentioned, it might take all three of them in the game against Man City.

But in general, I suspect Kante and Jorginho are the two first choices for those central midfield positions. Kovacic has been playing really well this season, so I'm not taking anything away from him. I was absolutely wrong about buying him - that purchase turned out to be a bargain. But I still believe that in most matches he will be backup to the other two.

I'm quite content to keep the gap between the top four and the chasing pack as it is, if it's all the same to you.

which reminds me...where's Matic these days

Kante for me is in whatever team we play...he's that important

Frankly I'd have played him in place of either Alonso or Azpi at full back just to have him on the field...obviously RJ & Emerson are looking excellent there now

We are suddenly in possession of some brilliant young talent in all positions, even with the continuing absence of Rudi & Rubes...we'll have to integrate them back in too at some stage
