rumor has it he has slashed his wages massively to come to utd, down to around 85k a week.
while he wouldnt be my prefered choice, at least it seems as though he really wants to come to the club, he could easily sit on his backside at Juve on double that wage.
another rumour is that he could well join the club in december to get up to speed with things before the season starts... decent enough backup option who will bust his balls

My concern is a player his age could rapidly decline especially after such a long break.
possibly but i cant see it being a long term deal.. maybe 18 months

Suppose but then we have Mandzukic, Martial and the new guy battling for one place not to mention Rashford and Greenwood. Hard to keep everyone happy.
I think he'd be a good signing all things considered.
Fit as a flea by all accounts, great experience, allows different tactics and a winner.
33 is nothing in modern football if you've taken care of yourself.
Not against this signing. Woukd offer us a plan b and a new dynamic in attack. Short term probably best.
If there is no one available in January who would improve us in the long term we should just go with what we have got and hope Martial stays fit.
---------------------------------------------
Hoping our players stay fit is like hoping to win the lottery.
I can understand some of the doubts people have about Mandzukic like his lack of match sharpness but other than that I don't see too many downsides to signing him for a period of up to 6-18 months given what he potentially brings to the table.
He scores important goals, he's better than anything we have in the air and attacking the ball in the box and he was still excellent at defending from the front as recent as last season.
He's still a little underrated for me even to this day.
If he's even willing to lower his wage demands and move to Manchester in December to start training and try to settle before a move becomes official in January then that'll go down well with Ole.
We should get him, Look what happened the last time Martial was injured, Rashford was on his feet, And we can't afford to be in the same situation this season.

Agreed Matth.
Sensible low risk signing if the wages are right and the length of contract is fair. No stopping us getting Haaland or whoever else we have in sight in the summer either.
Rashford for me shouldn't be considered as a CF for us unless we have no other option, he's far better on one of the wide forward roles.
Why hasn't he played much this season?
They've got Dybala, Ronaldo and Huguian.
If he's happy to be the plan B and play cup games etc... then it would probably be a good short term signing.

Dont really see why anyone would be against this. Nothing to lose and potentially a fair bit to gain from it.

Would prefer Zlatan. The man is a machine.
I think we need a leader and presence in the young team more than the handful of extra goals mandzukic may score ahead of Zlatan.

No.
Doesn’t fit into the style we are trying to implement.
His season with us was vastly overrated and his decent goal tally masked his generally average performances.
He’s 3 years older now.

Mandzukic doesn't quite fit the style either. Were not looking for someone like we already have, greenwood, rashford and martial are pretty similar. we're looking for a more traditional striker for when the situation requires it, and there have been plenty of times where it would have been good to have that this season.
Zlatans ego wouldn’t allow him to accept any other shirt number than 9, he ain’t coming

I just don’t think we should be looking at a short term fix in any position.
Maybe for 6 months but I’d rather see greenwood get games personally.
If Martial has a good season and proves he is the answer up top then we should be looking at a good player who is happy to be back up or a youngster.
If Martial doesn’t look good enough then maybe someone like Timo Werner.

Given that winning the Europa is still probably our best chance of making top four, going into the second half of the season without any traditional nine in the squad and any kind of depth up top is a downright stupid idea.
Mandzukic would be a perfect option on a 6 or 18 month deal. It should have been done in the summer.
