Ol Jez did a decent job of running the club and keeping it out of debt for the most part, and you could say that his prudent style made the club the attractive investment opportunity that Fosun were looking for.
But yes, he seemed to forget that football is form of entertainment and the lack of ambition was summed up by his insistence that 6th place Championship was the minimum target, anything better than that was a bonus. I think I worked out once our average league position during his tenure, it was significantly below 6th in the champ.

I think Jez is still involved at Burton in some capacity, my cousin went to a function at the ground a few weeks back and the oily one was there. Pie's were not on the menu apparantly.

To be fair, Moutinho would never have signed for Wolves under any other management structure than the present one.
I have also just had a mental image of Neves, Moutinho, Jonny, Jota and Jimenez stood round the training ground in a circle, listening to the inane rambles of the tactical genius Paul Lambert!!

and to be fair no other management structure has had the finances to back them of our current owners.

Have to say I’ve never gone along with this notion that Jez did a good job by keeping us out of debt. As an accountant myself I know lots of guys who for a salary of £70k or so could achieve that without much difficulty. But Jez was paid at least 4 times that amount because his job was to take the club forward AND keep the club out of debt. At Norwich he quickly peed everyone off by turning down every investment aimed at getting the club back into the top flight because it involved some risk. Like us they very quickly got back in the right direction not long after showing him the door.
Not many businesses move forward without taking some risk and not many businesses pay someone a quarter of a million to tell them to just focus on controlling costs rather than investing to improve income

I always said that the problem with wolves under Morgan/Moxey was risk aversion. Completely agree that he could have done so much more without doing a Portsmouth. Looking back Jackett did a superb job of getting us out of league 1 at the first attempt and then a 7th place finish. Instead of investing for a promotion push the two Ms sold our player of the season and let our best player move on without being replaced.
Jackett did brilliantly for two seasons, was laughable when people here would say the 7th place was no more than 'ok'. It was a minor miracle given the lack of champo experience in that squad compared to our rivals for the play off.
