"Big" is a matter of opinion depending on the criteria applied.
In the opinion of the op, based on his objective criteria, City is now bigger than United.
Deal with it and stop trying to belittle someone's else's opinion.

Dont they just pump their own money into the club?

posted on 19/11/19

Is anyone here actually arguing that City are a bigger club than United? Nope, they're not. What they're saying is they are going to surpass United's revenue. How are people struggling to understand this? Baffling.

Yeah my mistake, see above 👍

Of course City aren't a bigger club but to generate more revenue than United is impressive, Liverpool who are the second biggest are nowhere near.

Revenue is different to size.

City have managed by throwing huge sums at it and reaping the rewards, albeit well managed as well.

Saying "biggest" revenue would be acceptable. Saying "biggest" club would not.

Hardly an incredible achievement given the investment in that club and the mismanagement at utd

City have a long long way to go before they ever overtake us or Liverpool.

And it will also be tainted by the ‘sugar daddy’ aspect of it.

The OP should be aware of this because Chelsea got little respect after Roman pumped all his money into the club

Eh? I was just saying I agreed with the sentiment we aren’t a bigger club than United, far from it. The comment I replied to didn’t say anything about the merit of the achievement.

Liverpool - England's most successful.
City - England's richest
United - England's most marketed.

Not incredible, surprising to an extent, but ultimately that’s more because you haven’t had regularly CL participation that most people would have thought was a given ten years ago.

There are certain aspects (like the CFG) that are a good achievement. I’m not one for extremes though!

It just underlines how poor our owners are that they are letting us slip down even the revenue table. We are no longer growing as a club and won’t be long before we don’t have enough money to compete
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You still have lots of money to compete.

Or do it the Chelsea way... and bring through youth

Or do it the Chelsea way...

Get caught cheating and get forced to finally use their academy.

How do we measure which is the biggest football club?

Can we agree on the best measure?

Biggest should mean successful so number of trophies must come into it.
Should Europe success eclipse domestic success?

Does having the biggest bank balance make you a big club? Many disagree with this.

It allows teams to have great players and sometimes squads. Would having the best players make you a bigger club or are you buying success?

Does having a world class Manager make you world class?

Should attendances and season ticket sales count?
Would having the Best stadium and training facilities count?

Should having or achieving the best team record be relevant?

I would expect getting the longest unbeaten run would put you in with a shout.

I think most sensible people would agree this list is only a recipe for success. The biggest club could attract great players even without the finance.

It could develop youth and turn them into a great team. And that happens when the support is great.

A team’s crowd has a major factor on how they perform. Any big team will always have a proud vocal fan base at games to drive the team on to greatness.

Luckily for Chelsea and City theyve pumped a load of money into that too.
