Looking for positives......

He seems a sensible and likeable person as a pundit. My hope is that listening to him in that role he said he would only join a club next if it was clear from the start what was expected and what resources he will be given.

He seems a very different person as a pundit away from a managerial role. Much more sensible and likeable and thought out.

My hope is that judging from his comments, he would have only joined a club next if the expectations were clear and resourced given known in advance. He must have taken the job with all that in mind and an agreement with Daniel Levy.

Glad his contract is only 2.5 years for the time being and no long term commitment which will probably have come at a massive cost.

The key thing for me with Jose, is how he forms relationships with his players. Look at Porto, Chelsea first time and Inter. Literally players crying when he left. Everyone speaking about how amazing he was. Then you see him at Real, Chelsea second time and United. The players turned pretty strongly against him. Whether he has to change his style to adapt to modern players I don't know, but that to me has always been one of Jose's biggest strengths, and he needs to go back to it.

Spurs fit into the Porto, Chelsea 1st time and Inter Milan group. The others were all positions where they expected imminent title success and hundreds of millions spent.

Poch turned Spurs into top 4 regulars. Levy will probably allow him this season, but the first year after that we don't qualify for the champions league he will be gone.

Nicely put mate. This deal is a risk for both Levy & Jose but at this point in his career and Spurs' evolution, its probably one worth taking. Hopefully Levy has learnt from his mistakes in the way he dealt with Poch & Jose has learned from his mistakes in the way he dealt with management and his players. Spurs were going nowhere under Poch and it felt like it was only a matter of time until they went their separate ways. Poch leaves with a nice legacy, his head held high & a fat bank account. Spurs have now put themselves in a position where they will see if they can really step up to the elite level. The pressure is now on Levy (its about time), Poch will prob get the Madrid Job (good for him) & Jose has a great opportunity to prove he's one of the greatest ever... Win, win, win

Jose Mourhiho hates...

Youth, creativity and attack minded players.

Quite literally the Spurs ethos.

How will he square THAT circle?

Not a single positive.

It’s a clusterf*ck of biblical proportions.

The Spurs version of Brexit.

Doesnt he have a good personal record against Arsenal? Positive?

No transfer budget until the £1bn white elephant has been paid off (around seven years).

Kane will have to be sold to raise funds.

£20m to pay Jose off when sacked this time next year.

It is all over for Spurs as a top four club.

He said he wont change his playing style but maybe hes become more humble and has a different outlook on other things especially after learning stuff from the pundit side on how things are perceived etc and seemed to gain a new found respect for that side of things. On top of that maybe hes learnt from his mistakes too although hes often stubborn and adamant he was always correct.

You look around those teams he had biggest success with, they had players with huge amounts of character, most of them went on to have massive success without him too but maybe he does have a big enough character/ego for the lot of them?

It's like Levy didn't have a clue who he was, looked at his CV and went "That's the man for me", without doing research on his philosophy, his character, his football style and his recent failings.

It is worrying. I feel there were numerous managers more suited for us. Allegri for example.

We have José now whether we like it or not. I'm sure if he goes on a 10 game winning run, the haters will soon change their tune.

If the appointment doesn't work out though, Levy and co will be under enormous pressure.

there are quite a few positives tbh but end of the day poch should still be our manager. need to move on now and accept it. werent exactly stand out candidates and mourinho does have that mentality and hopefully we see the old him at spurs and he can put together a good tenure with some trophy success.

Would have been happy with Allegri.

There is no real future with Mourinho and with how Levy is with money it looks like a clash of egos that will end in disaster.

Having won trophies in Italy, Spain, England & Portugal with players like (off the top of my head)..... Zlatan, Eto, Deco, Ronaldo, Oziil, Di Maria, Rooney, Benzema, Bale, Mata, Drogba, Lampard, Crespo, Duff, Roben, Willian, Milito, Deco etc... it seems an unfair criticism to say he doesn't like attacking players..... Personally..... I can see the likes of kane & Sonny (in particular) doing well under Jose. Both team guys who dont mind putting in a shift. I think he'll give Dele a chance but he's gonna need to pull his finger out. Can't see him making any effort to get Eriksen to stay

Allegri doesn't speak English, hasn't managed outside Italy & inherited a title winning side from Conte in a very weak Serie A...... Never saw him as a great candidate

Having PL experience doesn't always mean much. Conte never managed outside Italy either. Klopp never managed outside of Germany until the PL.

This myth he doesn’t like attacking players is laughable. What he brings is a more pragmatic approach that’s clear.
But you know what? I’d much prefer going 2-0 up then managing the game and winning 2-0 than the usual Spursy losing leads left right and centre

I'm devastated Poch has gone, imo he should of had this season for rebuilding but Levy has facked him over by not getting rid of players that needed to go and not signing enough replacements. We owed Poch this season.

However that's by the by now, I do see the positives of Jose and his winning mentality. If we get the Porto/Chelsea/Inter Jose then it could be a master stroke by Levy. If we get the toxic Jose then Levy needs to be accountable and we're all up sheet street.
