Another series and Joe root is playing the catchup game. To all England fans, when was Joe root the highest run scorer of a series either across both teams or just within the team? Can’t recall this tbh. His batting has declined a lot since he took captaincy.

No doubt at the end of play. One of the players will come out and say. Its not over yet.. we can bat all day. Then by lunch we are 6 down..Seen it all before.. That's why I haven't watched England since last summer.

I watched the first 30 mins of yesterday’s play and Broad was bowling at mid 120 trundlers. This is where lies the issue. If a player who only plays one format and gets months of rest after every series can’t manage to hit mid 130s then how do you expect to win a match?

If players like Pat Cummins, Rabada can maintain good pace despite playing all forms then not sure what the English bowlers are doing.

Also a common theme with England is they are regularly bowling 100+ overs every test (this is including some home matches). At this rate Archer will become in the same league as Broad not very soon.

Broad should just retire now or exclusively play in England where the ball at least moves. He wont win England the ashes next winter.

Leach wasn't actually "banned for an illegal action", to be fair.

He's a useful player and I don't see many better alternatives.

That's the problem there isn't any..I guess the sky and bt money is going to good use.. Mostly in the pockets of the ECB members

Archer only bowling with real pace when’s he’s annoyed. Root using him in short bursts but mostly bowling in the low 130s. A very average seam attack it appears in flat conditions. Going to be a difficult tour

Reckon moeen Ali will be back for leach in south Africa. I expect Anderson and bairstow to return as well.

Root gone for 11. Short one from De Grandhomme and Root seemed to be in two minds what to do.
