I remember you saying after his goal away at QPR in the Championship-winning season that you felt it was the mark of a natural finisher. I have to say I was skeptical. But the way that side of his game has come on in those following years has been absolutely remarkable - not just to keep finishing chances like that but to do it so metronomically.

He is certainly considered a Leicester legend that goes without saying.

But he isn't the most prolific is he, otherwise he'd have more goals.

Thanks Barry

You think players like Welbeck are more legends than Kane because he's won more trophies, so you can't talk.

What about the season when you had CL, why didn't he score more goals then?

We are playing poorly just like Leicester were then and yet Kane has still maintained a very good scoring rate still. Vardy wasn't able to. He is not the most prolific striker in the league but he is very good and I'm a fan.

Honestly this kind of debate is tribal and pointless.

Vardy is an extremely good goal scorer and so is Kane.

The only qualm I have is that Vardy is not used a lot in international football, and that's a mistake in my view.

Come back when he's scored 100, then may be you can mention him in the same sentence as Kane and Aguero.

shame for him he peaked so late, would have loads by now if he was like he is now at the age Kane burst on to the scene.

he would have had a load of england goals and caps as well. wrongly or rightly players are picked young for the national sides these days, coming though in your late 20s early 30s no matter how good you are doing compared to another player

He still got 20, which is still bladdy good considering the team was on a downward spiral and almost flirting with relegation

Aguero is a level above.

Kane is lucky to lace Vardy’s boots.

Premier League

Kane 131 goals in 192 games ( one goal every 1.46 games)

Aguero 173 in 249 games (one goal every 1.44 games)

Vardy 111 in 187 games (one goal very 2.05 games).

Kane & Aguero are on a level, both a level above Vardy.

The comparison of Vardy with other players using statistics doesn’t really tell the full story.

Vardy was plucked from non-league and went straight into the Championship. His first season he looked well off that level, but improved once he’d adapted.

It was the same when we were promoted to the Premier League. He was very average before he learned and adapted.

This all affects his overall numbers as he started off with a poor return in the PL. Then his game went up exponentially.

The incredible thing is that Vardy is still learning and still evolving - even at 32. He’s as good now as he’s ever been. He’s also a more rounded player and scores goals in a possession based team. It’s no longer reliant on quick, counter-attacking football. That’s a testament to his willingness to continue to improve his game.

The route that somebody like Kane took was completely different and more traditional. Agüero was different again. Numbers can only tell us so much.

Clearly Vardy was a step behind others in 14/15. He then stepped up to that level in 15/16. It’s only now that we can talk of them all in the same breath.

At this point in time I wouldn’t want anybody else, but longevity was never going to be something Vardy was going to get with the route he’s taken.
