Are we the real deal at last?

Algarve, just to keep myself honest, Marcelo is concerned about our conversion rate. From
pre-Reading presser:

Q. Leeds have scored twice in the last few games - a welcome change?

MB: "We have a lack of efficiency regarding our chances. For each time in the last match we needed 16 chances to get two goals, the opponent just needed four to score once. That means we have a lot to develop in the offensive play."

I hear what you're saying Batty, but are the chances created easy to convert, i.e. tap ins, or do they require a bit of skill, or a lot of skill. For instance, Klich's goals yesterday, one was through a bit of luck and could have been saved had it not ricocheted of a defender, and the second was a superb strike that went in, but could have missed by inches, as one did earlier in the game. It's fine margins in many cases, but we are making the chances and through whatever reason some are converted some are not.
For me, if we are making chances that is an important positive, not converting is not always the negative it appears.
If we keep creating we will score, If we don't create we won't. I would rather have what we currently have, rather than the latter.

But I would love 16 chances created and 16 goals scored, even 8 scored would be good.

Bielsa's teams have always had lots off shots and few scored, its his system the way he plays!..

The team play that far forward when they get the ball in the box there isn't much space to move, meaning players are rushing shots or are to close to opposition/keepers to find space to do much!..

Last season Hernandez scored how many, 12 I think, midfield, I think a few were like Klitches 2nd yesterday, that is the way off this team and Harrison,(many say a lot against him!)is also chipping in, Costa, well, here's hoping but maybe he'll find his true colors after yesterday!..

Bamford is doing what LIW always said Becchio couldn't do, but funny as it may seem, Becchio is a goal scorer we're now screaming for!..

Maybe things are turning because there were 4 goals yesterday with 2 headed goals in last 2 games, something we've not had for how long?..

You're correct Algarve. We fell agonizingly short last season. We could've had it. We all know it. This season, again, we all know we're as good as any of the top teams. We'd probably all agree we're better. That's why
we want no stone left unturned this time round. Get
us out of this division once and for all.

Great post.
For a multitude of reasons we have to go up this season and do what it takes to give ourselves the best chance. Imagine what a boost it would be to add another quality player to this already very good side to help rest other players and ensure injuries do not derail us.

Bielsa doesn’t rest players.

3-0 up at 75 mins or so and Pablo should be taking a breather, I think, but it never seems to be a MB move.

OP question: I reckon we are. As others have said (and it's my main complaint right now), we have to improve our conversion rate. Still not enough goals consistently to pay off the chances we create. And MB has the same issue. He said it last presser.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is the 1st time since August we have scored more than 2 goals, lets hope this is a sign of things to come. 43% of our games we have won to nill.

We have no strikers in the top scorers table. Enough said really in regards to our conversion rate.

Agreed but our lads at the back make that stat boring.
Win every game 1-0 and stats mean jot. But I do love a stat or 3

Are we the real deal? We scored 4 against a depleted Boro side. Last season, we scored 4 against West Brom and we still didn't get promoted. As my mate Taylor says, calm down.
We are more consistent and we give the ball away a lot less than last season. We are also playing with more variety in style, with Cooper and KP sending balls over the top to get Bamford free.
The standout for me yesterday is how important Pablo is to the team. He finds space when there is none, and his passing yesterday was sublime. We look so much more dangerous when he is on the pitch.
But 5 wins against poor sides is what we could have expected. We are gaining in self-belief. Bamford is no Mitrovic, but he looked sharp yesterday. He's hitting the target more often and is getting into the places he needs to be in. We are four points better off than this time last season and we should be too strong for Huddersfield next week, but beyond that, it's anybody's guess.

Pablo's passing was woeful yesterday. Practically every time, he tried a through ball and it was cut out. He did one or two good passes.

But the work he put in to get the ball back and to defend was immense.

I was watching at 5.00 a.m. LST, so his passing could have been an optical illusion. As for sitting on the fence, Kamara, hiding behind the parapet might be a better description. You just know that with LUFC, anything can happen, and probably will. Great thread, though.

Generally think we have 3 things that stand in our way.

Lack of goals
Squad depth (burn out, injuries)
Mentality (end season collapse)

We can address 2 of those to give us the best possible chance. Atm, its 2 of us, WBA and Preston, we must not come 3rd this time.

Brentford are on a charge too, putting seven past Luton - could be the dark horses this year?

So long as we hold onto White for the rest of the season and he stays fit, then I'm really feeling positive at this point. White has been the difference this season - we're not so vulnerable at the back. Casilla also seems to have found his rhythm.

And they all seem to have stepped up a gear together, it's true. Without going too Yoda, maybe this is about the whole being greater than the sum of its parts?

Agree Jaz, White is key to our success. Him, Cooper and the Fort Knox Spaniard in goal are massive.

Preston? Much more concerned about Forest and Fulham at the minute.

You'll drink yourself into a stupor if we do it?..

I thought people were doing that every week around these boards, the way some are you'd think they were drowning!..

Must admit though, I like the odd night trying to drown, seems more fun than caring about whats going on in the real would!.

I daren’t think about if we’ll get promotion or not. I’ve been hurt far too many times supporting Leeds and I cannot bear to think about failure again. It is going well at the moment because we are getting results against teams in the lower half of the division. The test will be how we fare against Fulham, and other top half teams.

I try not to think about it and just focus on three points, no injuries and a clean sheet home and away every week. We're on a roll at the minute and what a pleasure it's been so far, this season, for the greater part of the time. Just having the meanest defence in the division gives me a kick, and thanks be that we have because it's true that we've been struggling to convert chances.

Just to add, about Klich's strike - what a peach! The corner drill was sweet leading up to it too. He had all the time he needed to shape himself for it. Great goal from outside the box, at last, although I must say Dallas was really unlucky the week before with that belter that cannoned off the bar.
