Why did you give it up?

I smoked on and off for years, then at a certain point in my life started smoking just about every day. I eventually kicked regular use years ago (while on holiday in the Rif region of Morocco of all places) because I got to a stage where it was making me paranoid more often than it gave me a feel good high.

A mate of mine who'd been a daily, hardcore smoker for a very long time flipped completely 4 or 5 years ago. He suddenly cut off all communication with his mates, basically refused to meet up and unfriended everyone except the people at work on Facebook. Turned out developed a persecution complex and to the best of my knowledge, still thinks the cops and/or private detectives hired by his employer have him on 24-hour surveillance.

Weed's great fun, but the ultra-potent strains around nowadays have to be handled with care.

Agree with this. I was a heavy smoker back in the day. But it was only soap bar and squidgy. The stuff now is much much more potent, but I only partake once a week at the most when I go to a mates house. Sometimes it is 2 or 3 weeks between if we are busy. I sometimes have a 10-15 minutes period when I feel a bit uneasy/paranoid, then I just laugh my t!ts off, which is a great stress reliever for me. The paranoia doesn't bother me, as I know its just the weed.

I'll make sure I pass this link onto my brother. The massive weed head.

Simple. Health reasons

I found that after a session I'd wake up in the middle of the night with my heart pounding, pulse rate WAY up, panic attacks.

All in all I was a mess

As soon as I stopped smoking it all stopped as well

That last line resonates with me hugely. I have the same thing, and when it occurs I just mentally tell myself it's just the tweed. I've smoked for a long time and I regularly smoke two a day. I have a very stressful job and it my way to unwind after a days graft.

You can either handle it or you can't, I don't buy this super strain stiff either, as I've smashed a load of it and feel hunky dory. Growing techniques have got better but that's also compensated by how clean it is as well.

There is also evidence that our brains contain cannaboid receptors, I'm not a religious man, but god can't be wrong can he?

I'll tell you a true story about group paranoia

Back in the day we were going to a mate's house on bonfire night for a firework party
A week or so beforehand, we scoured every shop in the city to buy the biggest, meanest rocket we could find
Took it home, doctored it by strapping smaller rockets to the body of the big one, complete with separate fuses. You get the picture.
Anyway, when we got to Kev’s house he took one look at it and declared it was going to be put somewhere safe until lighting up time. He put it in the wardrobe in the spare bedroom
The night wore on, everyone stoned as fack, and during a lull in the music/conversation we heard voices on the stairs. There was a group of us in the spare room at this point
Convinced it was the police, everyone panicked, all the weed & blow hidden from sight, bong extinguished and Kev grabbed a lit spliff and walked into the wardrobe
He said afterwards that in the glow of the spliff, he could see this monster rocket in the corner about a foot from him
Poor guy practically shat his pants
Turns out it was just some guys on the stairs

Forgot to add, when we lit it up it took 3 people with 2 lighters each, it took a while take off, flew about 30 feet, went under a car and ended up lodged in the roof of a neighbours house

Great days

Same here. I always think people are laughing at me and then I realise they’re only laughing at my jacket.

At my age I'm probably the one on here who has smoked for the longest unbroken time. Stared at fourteen in my first band, and I'm still growing my own at 62 here in the sunny, remote wilds of the Balearics.

Yep. Some people struggle with it and in those cases it is wise to quit. They are the ones that are likely to struggle with paranoia long term if they keep smoking.

Smoking a tad of Mary Jane, and self-medicating with the CBD oil from my home-grown, has been the best pain control available following surgery and radiotherapy for prostate cancer.

As a side-line, let me be a little preachy; Get a doctor to put a finger up your argentina before it's too late.

Forty thousand years of documented use of this herb should not be dismissed.

Ask the parents of those kids whose epilepsy vanishes within hours of the cannaboid receptors in the brain getting what they actually need.

I'm coming for your record.

Have an international job, pays well and I get to travel the world but when I settle down I want it to be in some sunny paradise and I'm definitely gonna be growing my own.
