When we played 4 4 2 with the diamond in midfield with Martin and Marriott up front we did well and it was good to watch.

Why doesn't Coco use this system? He is letting the club down with his idiotic team choices and now he is on RD telling us we played well and had control. What an absolute idiot the man is, sooner he goes the better.

Now he is bemoaning luck for our woes! I feel sorry for all our great fans who travelled to watch this rubbish.

Coco the clown would do better to keep quiet after a match, he is deluded in his interviews.

Now he is saying we did well after 65 minutes, mad.

I worry about what he says in the interviews. Fair enough, I'm NOT there but.......

U23's n U18's doing well.

Think he's on a different timeline to some fans. Would like to see some more urgency and dare I ask creativity going forward though please.

I thought I might have been harsh on Coco, but FB has gone bananas. Never seen folk so unhappy, especially with his deluded interview on RD.

Ramage ain't too happy either!

Understand the gloom when we are not playing well but I think we need a reality check. Cocu was appointed on a four-year contract and from the start it was clear in interviews with him and with Morris that his brief is wider than short-term improvements on the pitch but to create a longer-lasting club strategy that might prove sustainable rather than the boom and bust of recent years.

I think the only signing he has made since arriving is Bielik who looks a good player to me. So far this season he has had to contend with serious injuries to key players and out of necessity has had to chop and change with players he inherited.

It’s clear to me at least that he knew when he was appointed that there was to be significant new investment together with the arrival of Rooney. I think the hope was that we would have been somewhere near the top six at half way stage and could then kick on in the second half. With all that has happened with injuries and Boozegate that was never likely to happen and instead it seems. Cocu has decided to use the few weeks up until the next transfer window to look at as many players as possible in different systems to decide which ones will be useful going forward and which he wants to discard. At the same time he’s having a little look at some of the kids with half an eye on next season.

So I’m content to be patient and see what happens after January. You have to give a new manager the chance to create his own team. I bet that if he had the chance he would look to replace plenty of players, amongst them Roos, Davies, Dowell, Josefzoon, Marriott, Evans, Waghorn, maybe a few more. I like the way Cocu talks about the way he wants to bring the young players through and I think he is the right man to do that. If we want to have a long-term plan, and we do, then we have to accept it’s going to take a bit of time. Nigel Clough inherited a mess and he took a few seasons to create a good team. In Brian Clough’s first season we did worse than the the year before. Cocu didn’t inherit a mess but he did inherit a jumble of a team which over-achieved courtesy of a couple of stars whose magic moments masked deeper problems. Cut the guy a bit of slack.

Vidal. I’m sure things will come good under Cocu, but we look like we have no belief away from home.
We don’t know why that is but it’s what management is all about.
If he can’t make them believe they they won’t break this cycle away from home and if he doesn’t crack that they it may well creep into our home form. Some who had to watch the QPR game may think that has already happened.
Two home games to come now so a chance for back to back wins. If we struggle I think Cocu could be looking at a long winter.

I agree with a lot of what you say Vidal, BUT the players don't seem to know what system they are playing or what to do. The team selections are a lottery and the team formation changes every few minutes. Coco hasn't improved a single player from what I've seen, many have gone backwards such as Holmes, Waghorn, Bogle.

I remember BC's first season and although our league position was one place lower we could see how the team was being built, not at all like now. Brian brought a whole new life to the club and Coco is draining it out, fans are losing the will to go to games, I wish they would give the real attendances.

Up till now I have said we should stick with Coco, but I've had enough. We all know in our heads that he isn't the right person for us. It needs to change before we are in the bottom three. I've also had enough of little Tommy, it sounds as if he couldn't care tuppence today, he needs shifting out in January and any money we get from some mug club will help our new manager who might have the initials WR. Personally I'd go for someone who knows the leagues and has managed clubs successfully before.

VC, I’ve been tracking Stoke’s oatcake forum since Rowett went there and it’s been a great source of comfort for me to see them in meltdown week in week out.
Believe it or not they’ve given Michael O’Neill 5 games to sort it and that’s to conservative ones. Some are already calling for his head.
It’s comedy gold but thank god it’s not us, yet!

I used to look at the oatcake forum when Rowett was there, it cheered me up no end. I think Rams fans have gone easy on Coco, but I think they are turning on him. You don't mind losing so much if the players do well and have a few shots on goal. Not one shot on target in 90 minutes. It is not acceptable,

I think he's the right man for the job, just wish there was a way of making the interim more interesting or pleasing on the eye.

If what you say is true Vidals I hope he's made that clear to Mel. Had a good feeling about today too.

Would be funny though if Cocu was just flucking with the league and then Boom in Jan n Feb we get good instead of 5hite.

posted on 7/12/19

Wishful thinking 2W. We wont get good under Cocu. I have seen no evidence of progress, any coherent playing style, any settled team. I just don't think he knows what he is doing other than hoping it will all come right in the end. Then really, despite all the bullcrap spouted by the old men on sofas on TV, most managers are pretty much the same. Only a few actually know what it takes to win a game.

Further to Vidal's post, when BC was in charge for his first season he had brought in O'Hare, McFarland and Hinton by the end of September. So with Hector, Durban, Boulton and Webster he had got the nucleus of a league winning team.

Now we get in Paterson, Clarke, Dowell and the pricey Bielik. I think I know which one was the best manager.
