Els.. I actually think bera has decent game too.. I don’t believe Harrison was the man of the match either. hardly noticed him at all in the first half!..

Kiko turned round 2nd half too.. thought he was due a Kiko moment in the first, but fair play second half was the best I’ve seen him.. always said he will gain us points.. but he’s got a Kiko moment in him 😂

Costa looked a huge threat first half, his face appears to fit now.. playing well the lad

Christiano, hard working as ever without being spectacular for me, good nock though

Re strengthening.. I think January is the time to really make a push.. let’s be ruthless and take a risk.. we can’t leave this season to chance.. radz, Bielsa, Orta whoever it is cant mess this up!... let’s spend and get a centre back and a Number 10.

Not going to happen Spannish of that I am sure. Not only is Radz prudent but Bielsa will not want many changes and there is FFP to be taken into consideration. If we spend and go up, I believe FFP will be irrelevant but if we spend and fail to go up it may open a can of worms.

Els... that’s my feeling too unfortunately mate..

I just worry we haven’t got QUALITY cover in key areas.. let’s hope we get some luck ref injuries etc !

Not sure we need to spend big but if we lose Eddie, Clarke or both then we will deal I think.

Bielsa won’t risk unbalancing the side and I agree with that. These lads are so together that I think barring any major injuries we will be fine.

I can’t see us repeating the mistakes we made last season.

Stoopo, yeah I get the balance side thing.. crosses my mind that when thinking we still need to add to the squad.. obviously we’d have to get the right player! It’s not champ manager (LIW plug)

Looking at Costa and how he is steadily improving, I think that’s more a sign he’s settling in better with the group! One thing about a very tight nit group Bielsa style is that whilst they are tight.. it may be difficult for ‘new comers’ .. so I’m my opinion it’s finding the right personality too...

Then again, might be talking bollox.. let’s just get promoted

Els

Please explain why FFP is a problem ???

Where you getting this from

This is based on my understanding of the rules. People are once again talking about buying our way out of this league, it is reported that players will only be brought if they are an improvement on what we have, that's obvious surely, you wouldn't buy players on purpose than are worse than what we have. The January transfer window is notoriously a difficult window and prices are inflated. We cannot bring in loanees because we already have six unless they are to replace either Clarke or Nketiah, we already have the second best keeper in the club playing for the reserves because there's no space for him on the bench.
Buying costs money.
There are already concerns about our finances, widely quoted on here.
If we are promoted we go into a division where the rules are less vigorously enforced and we would be nowhere near breaching those rules in any case

What a bizarre thought, Bera in the Phillips role, there's no indication he could fulfil that role.

Interestingly, most people, myself included, thought Berardi had a good game yesterday, Jack Robshaw, Graham Smyth and Beren Cross all disagreed.

tought berardi had a decent game too. but white has been one of our best players and if in his position huddersfield wouldn't have had a sniff.
els, do you think ben had a good game? i think he was only so-so.

Interesting comment on White, Mont, I thought he looked uncomfortable, especially in the first half. Perhaps a lot of his confidence comes from playing alongside Coops. He looked half the player yesterday.

White struggled, playing out of position? I thought it was a good point made that White plays with greater confidence at CB because he is playing with experienced hands like Cooper. There could be a lot to that - but also maybe it might be a mistake to compare him with Kalvin, who quietly does so much so well. There will be some tempting offers for Phillips in January, I'd imagine - if an untried Clarke went for 9, then he's got to be worth 30 million or more in today's ridiculously inflated market. Any problems re FFP wiped out at a stroke.

And surely if the Qataris are really interested, they'd need to put up more than a paltry ten million for a preliminary stake? That's not going to go very far, is it?

Don't get me wrong - selling Phillips would be a blunder of seismic proportions - but I wonder what he might be worth now?

Jaz63, the reason Hudds had such an aggressive flow against us, was due to us not having the best defender in the league at the back and the best defensive midfielder in midfield.

And also because our key players forgot how to pass and control the ball.

Pablo, Klich, White are all players we rely on to play out of trouble, receive the ball under pressure and beat the press. In the first half they were all awful on the ball.

Huddersfield played very well first half but had we been playing to our usual standard we would have beaten the press more often, had more possession and created more chances.

Max, if Forshaw fit and we were offered 35 mill for Philips, would AR take it? Would fans snap their hands off?

It would not surprise me to see a situation similar to Clarke with a loan back for rest of season.

pay £35 mill for a player, then loan him back

One major reason Phillips is valued so highly by the club is because I think Bielsa staying on for this season was directly tied to whether we kept hold of Phillips or not. I think that works both ways too, had we not kept hold of Bielsa, no way would Phillips have stayed.

So when considering an offer for Phillips, do you have to accept value worth losing Phillips (obviously) but also Bielsa too?

I don't think we need excess signings in January. If a quality number 10 is on the table then I'd say yes, but only if it's someone who can.slot straight into the way Bielsa plays. If Nketiah leaves then I'd be looking at Ivan Toney at Peterborough who is having a superb season personally.

Don't think we need a new defender. Just need to keep Cooper and Davis fit more regularly. Been impressed with Ayling when he's played CB this year. think his off the ball game has dramatically improved under Bielsa.
