I think people are getting carried away. The second half of the season will be different to the first half. I personally feel City and Tottenham will progress further than Liverpool and United in the Champions League.

I could be wrong but we will see.

The league is done. You will win it by more than 8 points. I like that Leicester are getting excited.Keeps you honest but I think they will hit a brick wall and could see the likes of Spurs, Chelsea and United chasing them for a Top 4 place.

My point about the second leg is about things like :
1. Fitness/Injuries
2. Mentality
3. Hunger
4. Form

All those 4 are important and you cant know for sure where each team will be come February. Thats why Spurs managed to almost crash out at the group stages to getting into the Champions League Final.

A lot will happen, remember Ajax kicked out Real and Juve last season, they will be another Ajax again this season.Could be Chelsea.

Some could point to United but I just cant believe that Rashford and Martial can maintain their form over an 8 month season as compared to Kane and Son.

I actually think Spurs could even make top 3 in the league this season.

So you think he isn't wrong when he says Man City can't compete? What does that say for the rest of the league then... He doesn't have elite players in every single position so he's admitting defeat.. that's pathetic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s only you that is making it specifically about players available though. Guardiola in that same interview even says about it being down to the way we are playing.

It’s a message to the players as much, if not more, than to the board. He’s right to say the way we are currently playing, we can’t compete at the same level as we did last year.

Gunner

But separate to their current league positions, Klopp has a better head to head with Pep (as far as I’m aware) and as we saw when they met in the CL 2 seasons ago when Liverpool hasn’t even purchased VVD, Allison or Fabinho, they were able to raise their game and better a superior City side.

I think the head to head is klopp 8, Pep 7.

Still be a different game as we saw last season Liverpool did not beat City in both league games.I wouldnt bother naming any team favourite for Champions League. Liverpool may just go out tomorrow if Red Bull and Napoli win their games

Hopefully Pep can make City great again

That’s a very impressive head to head considering Pep has always had the greater investment. Liverpool aren’t going to go out of the CL tomorrow either.

Liverpool are favourites over City in the CL, simply because the perform a lot better in it than City, hence why they’ve reached the last 2 finals.

If he is talking about form then fair enough but to me it reads that he is comparing quality. City have enough quality to compete - to suggest otherwise is bollockss from him.

posted on 9/12/19

He’s talking about both, primarily about form though.

I don’t actually think the performances are that far off, we’re still creating a lot of chances. It’s the quality of the chances we’re conceding that’s the big concern

Liverpool have been better than City this season but the 14 points gap is a bit flattering.

City have scored more goals and City’s supposedly woeful defence has conceded only 5 more goals than Liverpool in the league and less in all comps.

Liverpool has just been more efficient at the right times.

If City can complain about injuries what about the other teams that haven't spent billions on their squad?

posted on 9/12/19

He didn't complain about injuries. He doesn't mention the squad or injuries once, in fact his first reason is "our own mistakes", I.e. How we are playing.

posted on 9/12/19

I didn't day he did that particularly but its one of the excuses being thrown about, even on this thread.

In any case I think he mentions it when he talks about "circumstances that City cannot control" or something like that. Or what else could he be referring to there?
