Just voted. Was so conflicted that I spent about 5 mins a the station. They must’ve thought I was doing a Banksy on my ballot paper:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
and
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I voted Lib Dem for the first time ever
================

Fair play to you for not adding to the Tory toll.

Protest vote sounds more edgy.

Is it wrong to assume that as a general rule of thumb: those who live in a Tory majority area live are comparatively successful people?

And further, is it wrong for me to judge those who don't as being rather less successful in life?

Brighton aside. They're so hypocritical down there. They can afford to be green with their organic money

Yes, and most certainly yes, regardless of how you define “successful”.

I know some incredibly unsuccessful wealthy people, and incredibly successful relatively poor people.

Indeed. Many of the most die-hard blue seats are in the middle of nowhere where levels of education and earnings are pretty low.

Generally speaking, the big cities in England and Wales - London, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield, Leeds, Cardiff, Swansea - are Labour. Birmingham is the big exception here, it's the one really major city that is mostly Tory.

Broadly speaking the less heavily populated areas are Tory. That means the home counties which are more affluent, as well as the back-end-of-nowhere seats like the ones in Wales and Cornwall/Devon where the only things available to breed with are sheep and close relatives.

From memory, Scotland is basically Labour in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Tory along the border with England and SNP everywhere else.

People who are 'down on their luck' or just generally worse off than others are more easily swayed by a right wing media who want to blame immigration for all their woes.

...............

Or more swayed by the promise of free stuff from the left wing media.

I think it works both ways.

My sister and husband are rushing through a £4m land sale in case Corby gets in and they have to pay extra tax. She still buys whoops food at the supermarket
