Not sure Sow will be risked unfortunately
I’d like to see Lolley given the space just behind Grabben so that he can float around the area
The only change I’d make from that lineup is to swap Yates for Sow, as I don’t think he’ll be ready yet ππΌ
We played more like 4-1-4-1 against Wigan which I would play again against Blackburn. A wide midfield means we are not so reliant on the full backs giving us the width. But I would give Lolley licence to roam and ask Cash to push on when Lolley wanders inside.
Watson in front of the back four, ahead of him Lolley Yates Silva Adomah (Ameobi first impact sub off the bench).
If they are as tired as us we could win, but we are still not a team which will do well at home.
As well as lack of confidence, Carvalho has second season syndrome which in the past affected Raddi Majewski. Get whatever we can for him and spend the money wisely.
Put Jenks at full back and push Cash further forward, maybe putting Lolley on the other wing, Sow preferred over Yates, but tbh Yates doesn’t overly weaken the side. With the window now open, IF we are going to do any business, do it early and avoid getting over charged at the end.
For today I am hoping for a 2-1 Reds win, but again more importantly would be a much improved performance, 3 points from Wigan was good, but a performance rating, team wise of about 4 out of 10, today needs to be at least a 7 from 10.
Happy New Year to all.π€π
I'd have Sow over Yates normally, and would play him if 100% fit and we could guarantee 70 minutes at least, but I'd not risk him today give him a ten day break to get ready for our next league game.
Same with Jenks really if he is fit to start and play a least 70 minutes play him RB.
Blackburn will probably play more like 'boro than Wigan. I think it willbe tougher than Wigan and a similar lacklustre performance will see us get beat.
A draw might be enough to keep us in the playoffs; I'll settle for that.
Red, totally understand your logic, but a team hoping to cement a Playoff place....settling for a Draw at home...not great is it?
No it isn't great REV, but if we play similarly to the way we played on Sunday it is the best we could hope for. They looked shattered from early on and when they brought Gelhardt on for the last 15 minutes he was going through our midfield as if they weren't there. I bet Paul Cook wishes he had put him on a lot earlier.
Yeah I heard that too Red - isn’t he something like 17 years old?
Unfortunately you are both correct, and sums up where we as supporters stand, like the team and certain individuals we lack confidence, but too put some positive spin on our situation, had we been offered this situation in August we would have jumped at it, playing, not brilliant, lacking confidence, sat in the play offs with a chance to go 3rd by winning the game in hand all feels a bit surreal, don’t you think ? Usually it’s the sheep who are in this position, and we are closer to being in theirs, so all things considered we should be feeling a lot more optimistic, but for some reason we aren’t, how strange. Should the team put in a few more consistent performances and win a few more games we could really push on, but until that happens I am afraid we’ll keep looking over our shoulder. January is a very important month but I for one won’t be too bothered if we don’t bring anyone but hopefully ship a couple, at least, out. As per normal fingers crossed and hope for further improvements today.
Hefele, Bridcutt to name a few that could be shipped off somewhere
Pant’s, Yacob, Benny to name 3 more, we seem to have a good few candidates, Yacob to me is the strangest one of those 3 as I still think he hasn’t been given a look in. Clough I guess is also surplus to requirements. It looks like Mir and Muric will leave also with their loans being ended early, that is potentially 8 lots of wages freed up, quite a tidy sum I would think.
Forest: Samba, Cash, Worrall, Figueiredo, Chema, Watson ©, Sow, Lolley, Silva, Ameobi, Grabban. Subs: Smith, Robinson, Dawson, Semedo, Jenkinson, Carvalho, Adomah.
No Yates?
And haven’t been overly impressed with Ameobi either to be honest
Happy new year to one and all.
Ameobi or Adomah, neither have really pulled up any trees, guess that shows our lack of options in that position.
Happy New Year to you too.
Apparently Blackburn have a good recent record at the CG, it seems like everyone but the reds has thatπ‘
What are the chances that Forest will get a 1st half goal or two...then stroll on to win the game 3 or 4 nil?
I mean, that’s how it used to be regularly when I was a kid
I can’t remember that many teams that actually scoring against us, never mind considering actually beating us at the City Ground
Bright start from both teams, couple of half chances each.
Rev, not sure we will ever those days again, like you I remember with pride, at times it seemed inconceivable we would get beat at home, especially when old big ‘dad was in charge.
Bristol City & Fulham both losing
Cardiff losing as well, keep your eye on them, dark horses.
